We are San Diego natives dropping off our son at Syracuse for the school year. He said he found his new taco spot. The staff was so excited and happy to see us enjoy the food. The place has enough space to be a great hangout. Still new but everyone should spread the word!
El Habanero is a new Cuban / Mexican restaurant at 324 Burnett Avenue. It's 1-page menu lists Mexican dishes on the front and Cuban dishes and miscellaneous items on the reverse. I decided to try the Birria Tacos. They came in soft corn tortillas with some chopped onion and cilantro. The warm shredded beef was tender, moist, and flavorful. A wonderful hidden gem right outside of downtown. We've been here twice now and plan to return on a regular basis. The food is authentic and made lovingly and our waiter was attentive and polite. El Habanero should be in your rotation, it will not disappoint!
