Karen with all due respect your names Karen everyone knows Karen’s find something to complain about. Mamma Assunta has excellent service and personable staff! They would never feed you a cheaper fish that’s not in the owners character or the business so maybe your foodie skills need some adjusting.
Mamma Assunta has been serving Tuckahoe since 1980, and after my recent visit, it’s easy to see why they’ve stood the test of time.
The highlight of the evening was the double-cut grilled pork chop with vinegar peppers—hands down the best pork chop I’ve ever had. Perfectly grilled, incredibly juicy, and topped with a flavorful brown sauce that paired beautifully with the peppers. The homemade mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables were excellent as well.

The restaurant has a bustling dining area, professional and attentive staff, and a friendly bartender who crafts excellent espresso martinis. The cozy ambiance is enhanced by a welcoming wood-burning fireplace, making it a perfect spot for a night out or special occasions like Easter. The dishes are carefully prepared and consistently excellent, with warm Italian bread and a lovely salad served before the meal. The staff are kind and considerate, providing attentive service. Overall, it’s a great place for authentic, well-prepared, and reasonably priced Italian dinners, with a good balance of choices that are not excessive. Even without reservations, there is usually a short wait, adding to its charm.
