I don’t understand the hype. The food is authentic Italian but heavy on the seafood. Extremely expensive for the portions. Atmosphere was cool and chic but not my style. Definitely not a family place. Absolutely a true foodie place for someone who wants to try outside of the box Italian food.

This was a random choice by us while attending a conference in Cincinnati. However, the choice did not go wrong. This place is in the basement and kinda dark. The dim lit place gives it a great ambiance. We did not have reservations but were seated quickly by the friendly staff. Our waiter Zach was amazing. His choices were delicious. We got the polenta, insalata, and grilled octopus to start off. For the primi, we had bombatti, cacio e pepe, short rib and clams. Pay this place a visit if you are in Cincinnati.

We booked our Sotto reservations 4 months out and we were not disappointed. We were lucky enough to be there on the last day of the black truffle season and wow was it amazing. We also shared the cappellaci which was my personal favorite. It was so light and delicious and not at all what I imagine a short rib pasta would taste like. The service was phenomenal and although the atmosphere is very romantic, it didn’t feel stuffy at all. Our waitress walked us through the menu and it felt like the perfect amount of food. The waitress was also very accommodating of allergies and we had no concern for any cross contamination. The ricotta doughnuts were divine and the cocktails were well made. Definitely looking forward to going back to this little underground gem.

Sotto is a treat, highly recommend visiting if you are in town. Get reservations ahead of time since they reguly book up. All the pasta is made in house and tastes very fresh.

First off, let me start by the food is absolutely incredible -but that is not truly what makes this restaurant different from the rest. The ambience and especially the service blow everything else out of the water. These two pieces have always been consistently amazing when I’ve come in, but tonight I had such a stellar experience that I am compelled to write this review.I came in for my reservation just before 6 PM. Only to realize I had accidentally made a reservation at a different restaurant named Sotto in Chicago. My clients were about to walk in and I was freaking out because they had been talking all day about how excited they were to go to Sotto. The host Dana saw my panic and worked magic to fit us in and my clients didn’t realize anything was array when they walking in a few minutes later. Thank you again Dana and the incredible team that made tonight extra wonderful!
We came with my girlfriend for our anniversary and as always the food was excellent.

Sotto is one of those restaurants you have to try in Cincinnati. I’ve been here multiple times and you really can’t go wrong with most of the items on the menu! My favorite is the goat cheese appetizer, Cappellacci and the breaded pork loin. And can’t forget the donuts for dessert!
