“Heart of Gold has so far been the best bite to eat in Cleveland since I moved here from the South. The atmosphere is trendy but laid back with good lighting and a cute small bar. I really loved the menu design, it is very obvious that even the smallest details of this restaurant have been thought out.The overall menu has an interesting and cohesive direction that incorporates Southern and Italian food - which to me was very reminiscent of the kind of fare you'd find in a lunch spot in New Orleans - especially their Tiki drinks on offer. The service was wonderful; everyone was kind, helpful, and seemed excited about the food.We chose the Roman, the fried chicken sandwich, the waffle fries, and the onion rings with the house made ranch. The Roman is a solid sandwich where you can taste every part mentioned in the menu description. I thought all of the ingredients played well together and reminded me a bit of a muffeletta. The waffle fries were very good - I thought the everything seasoning was a very smart choice (the ridges in the fries hold the seasoning in place) and were perfect for dipping. The fry crispiness to fluffiness ratio was to me a perfect balance. My only complaint is that they tasted a little too much of oil.The onion rings were very surprising to me. They are to this date the best onion rings I've ever had. The breading was perfectly crispy and the onion stayed in place upon biting it - which is typically my main issue with onion rings. The sauce drizzled on top paired well with the sweetness with the onion, and the horsey sauce added the right amount of heat. The chicken sandwich was overall a good chicken sandwich. The bread and the maggi mayo punch above their weight and those alone make this a stand out. The chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked. I personally think the chicken itself could use a little more flavor, but again that is only my taste.I can't wait to return to this restaurant and try the other items on the menu. Don't miss out on this place.“

It was their open mic night and we figured, what the heck. And we're so glad we went!At ages 59 and 69, we thought we'd be the oldest folks in the place but we were wrong. The club was packed with local musicians and music lovers of all ages and although not all of the acts were of profressional quality, it was a supportive and loving audience and much of the music was very good.If you live in the area, make it a regular stop. “This place was really cool. There were tons of options to choose from for all kinds of levels of gamers. They have classics like monopoly and more complex games like scythe or gloomhaven. There's a great list of menu options for food or drinks while you.play your games. We didn't use them but the staff offered to suggest games a few times which would be great if you want to try something new or aren't sure what you'd like. Overall it was a great experience after my first time and I will definitely be coming back. The only thing I would say that could be negative is the noise and the wait times since it was very busy (though we went on a Saturday evening).Parking: Parking was interesting since the the cafe is in Cleveland. Most of it is street parking or some paid lots. If you park further away, there is definitely free street parking in residential areas. Or you can pay to park closer on the street or in a lot.“

“This place is beautiful! They didn’t spare on detail that’s for sure. We were lucky enough to be able to sit on the upper level. Our server was super friendly and attentive.I had the interview with a vampire cocktail, it was one of my faves so far. My brother had a manhattan he enjoyed thoroughly. We started with the frog legs. They were thick! Great seasonings and the dip was on point. The cabbage was different. We also ordered the seafood gumbo although I’m pretty positive they brought me the normal gumbo because I didn’t see or taste any seafood in it. It was like a beef stew. Not bad but not what I expected. For dinner I had the shrimp and grits. It was SO good. The bread is exemplary too I could have ate two more loaves of it with my drinks. The dish was pretty decent sized. My brother got the blackened salmon. It was seasoned well and the cups of sauces were wonderful especially the garlic butter one.For desert I had the apple bread pudding and WOW was that a good choice!!10/10 recommend checking this one out! We went to the one in Tremont, I believe I overheard another table talking about one in Cleveland somewhere, too.Either way this place is wonderful. Next time I’m definitely getting the jambalaya.Parking: There is a parking lot at some library, you have to hang a right at the corner to find that lot. Ledger Bar Bar • $
2017 E 9th St, Cleveland - 5.99 miles

“The Ledger Bar is a small (I mean small) bar situated on the balcony that overlooks the Metropolitan at the 9's Hotel Lobby. Since the Metropolitan is home to an apartment complex, an upscale hotel, a rooftop bar, a dog park, a Pilates studio, a theater, a basement vault bar, and a "high-end" eatery, there's a whole lot of people constantly coming and going. Sitting at the four (five?) two-person tables situated right at the balcony railing means you can easily lean over and watch people come and go while sipping your drinks. Unlike the rest of the bars in the hotel, I was told there was no drink menu at the Ledger, and the bartender (who waited my table!) simply asked what flavor profile I was desiring tonight. The resulting drink he made was honestly good, and I really enjoyed it. Zero idea what was in it to ever order it again (and he was really overworked to ask!), but it was a neat experience of a "craft your own experience". There were a few beers on tap. I'm unsure about wine. Centro's food menu (restaurant downstairs) appears to be available here. There's a single unisex bathroom within steps of the bar, and the regular hotel lobby bathrooms are down a floor. As conference rooms are nearby this bar, I'd also probably guess there's a large conference room bathroom block too, but I didn't find that one. The rest of the bars and restaurants in the Metropolitan tend to take most of the attention here, and the Ledger has a much more laid-back, chill vibe. A lot of people were watching a sports game (baseball, I think?) on the TV behind me. With the smaller space and wide "open" area of the full lobby, the Ledger feels like your calmest, quietest bar option out of the available places at the Metropolitan.“

He suggested an Italian wine which my husband said was fantastic. Food was made to order with attentive service. They have a large wine menu and an amazing selection of wines by the bottle in the adjoining room. We will come back on a Saturday for their rib special.“

Ugly Broad Tavern Bar • $
3908 Denison Ave, Cleveland - 8.87 miles

“What a lovely little spot! I'm all about a good dive bar and we found the best one in Cleveland! Sherry & Simone were so welcoming, it felt like home. A pool table & curated jukebox were great additions and although we didn't eat (Sloppy Joes $4), I'm sure they were delicious. Inexpensive, charming & the visit left me with a huge smile on my face, knowing this was one of those special places. Can't say enough good things, just an all around great time. This place is a real as it gets. If you are in Cleveland, pay them a visit, tell em Patti from Philly sent you. ??“

“Did not have a great experience for the happy hour bar. Both drinks we had were subpar at best. Horrible, actually.Food and service at the table were outstanding. All food came out fresh and hot . The bar fills up very quickly, and there are certainly better places to have a drink close by.“

“What a great family owned Mexican Restaurant! The prices are very affordable! They have a huge menu! I recommend the dessert chimichonga! It's fried with cheesecake in the center! My Husband had the tilapia with shrimp & I had the chimichonga dinner with rice, beans, guacamole and Mexican salad! We will definitely be back! My Husband also had the Mexican street corn that was out of this world!“

The Social Room Bar • $
2261 Lee Rd, Cleveland Heights - 2.53 miles

“Everyone here is so cool. Whenever I don't feel like going to funhouse (because we've been there a million times that month) and want another laid-back bar, Social Room is the go-to. The bartender knows my drink whenever I come in and she's so sweet and bubbly! The wait time is nonexistent, the patio is real cute, and there are a billion restaurants over here if you want food before or after drinks. Plenty of parking too, very stressfree experience overall.“

“We split the two medallion special, which was cooked as ordered and could be cut with a butter knife (no steak knife required). The broccoli was tender, but not soft. The food came out promptly. We ate in the main dining area., which was quiet. All in all, we had a very enjoyable evening.“
