“We traveled here from Ashland, Ky on the recommendation of some friends from “The Laidback” to try the pizza that we were told was amazing.

Gary’s place also referred to as Swamps is kinda in a remote location but only 4 miles from Oak Hill; completely surrounded by swamp and marsh land so hence the name “Swamps”. On first glance it may not look like much but after entering and ordering food it was obvious that this was the watering hole for the locals, as everyone seemed to know everyone. It was apparent to them we were not from around there but was completely welcomed. As the locals inquired about where we were from and what brought us to the area and learning we came to try the pizza we were told we were in for a treat. They were absolutely right!! The pizza was super cheesy (no need to ask for extra cheese) and with only 2 toppings one slice seemed to weigh 3lbs. The pizza definitely didn’t disappoint as it was absolutely amazing! The locals assured me that any food we ordered was good and was told next time to try a sub or wings.

P.S. a 12” would definitely be enough for 2 people as we ordered a 16” and ended up taking half a pizza home.”

“Stopped at the loves truck stop across the freeway . Raining to hard to walk over . Called them they were SUPER NICE . Got some food Togo and they brought it over to the truck stop. AWESOME FOOD. Really well priced. Highly recommend you stop by and visit.”

“If you are in between Athens/Rio Grande definitely go here, their drinks and food are excellent. If you are want to just go there for just dinner and drinks they have a building for that. If you just want to go there to rave, guess what they have a building for that also, plus an awesome outdoor deck where you can play pool!! Literally the only bar/restuarant in rio grande except for bob Evans”

“Did a late stop tonight. The young lady with long blonde hair deserves some recognition! Very professional and polite, greeted with a smile and the subs were made very well and delicious!”

“Local yokel type place. Customer service was great. Good greasy cheeseburger. Kids & wife loved the shakes they got. We stopped by on a whim bc we didn't want fast food trash and. We're so pleasantly surprised with Shake Shoppe!”

“We were in the area and had both Breakfast and Supper there. Breakfast bacon, eggs, pancakes and biscuits were really good. Supper we had the turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes which were also very good. They were short staffed but waitresses did a good job.”

At the time, this location was slightly inconvenient and just 'another' Subway until we got inside.
Once inside, visually, it was Subway. What made this Subway stand out was the service.
The gentleman behind the counter was patient and very courteous. My stop was 8 hours into a 17 hour drive and his politeness and frankly, hospitality was very much appreciated.
The sandwiches were great, but it was the customer service that stands out for me.
