My husband ordered the Lake Erie perch sandwich and swears it was some other fish. Size of the filet was much larger than a Lake Erie perch. After reading other reviews, we see that there were complaints about this issue recently. The menu says “Lake Erie perch sandwich”. Nothing about an up charge for Lake Erie perch.
I give this place a solid 10!!! Pete is the best!!! Get a lemon drop, he makes the best!!! If you're looking for amazing food, big portions, and great people, come here!!!
McCarthy’s is great, but please bring the onion rings back! Big bummer when we visited today. Nothing better than a Blarney Burger with a side of onion rings. Look forward to that combo each fishing trip.

McCarthy's Restaurant & Pub is a great place with delicious food and generous portions. The atmosphere is welcoming, featuring lots of wood and great casual vibes, complemented by friendly staff. The bartender, Peter, is known for making the best drinks, including mango margaritas and lemon drops. Popular menu items include the fish and chips with Eileen's sauce, pulled pork with smokey BBQ sauce, and the Reuben boxty, which is definitely enough to share. Visitors have recently enjoyed the perch baskets and noted the mushroom gravy as a particular hit. Located in a nice area with easy parking, it remains a perfect spot for a wonderful dining experience. While the service can be slow at times due to short staffing, the cheerful staff makes guests feel welcome. Many have found the food great and the place neat to get a bite to eat, often busy even on weeknights. Overall, it’s a place worth visiting for a fun and tasty meal.
