“I'm out on my Columbus food tour, and if it's early enough of the day, I always stop at The Donut Shop in Russell's Point. It overlooks part of Indian Lake.In the summer, there are boats everywhere and people lining up for these donuts.Today I bought what I think might be the best apple fritter I've ever had, along with a super soft blueberry cake donut. It's a little later in the morning and they try to only bake what they think they're going to sell that day, so the case was a little empty, but there were still plenty of choices. Both of the donuts were very true to their style, meaning the fritter had plenty of nice chunks of Apple and solid texture. The blueberry donut was soft enough to crumble as soon as you take a bite.At this time of year, you use the side door, which is wheelchair accessible, but in the busy season, they have two walk-up windows and all the donuts are displayed nicely on either side of them.These guys do have milkshakes, muffins, and hand dipped ice cream, which I'm sure are all great, but a freshly made donut is always going to win when I'm standing here.This is a little bit of a haul from Fort Wayne, but it's a great stopping point about halfway to Columbus.What's your favorite donut style?#onforkstoforks #eatlocal #foodie #coffeeshop #donuts“
