Everything was absolutely perfect. From the food, service (most knowledgeable staff I've ever seen), to our table (we got to sit with a river view). We went for my brother's birthday and they even had a birthday card signed by the staff members and they gave him a trio of cupcakes to celebrate. Everyone was so warm and welcoming that it felt like we were the only table dining even though it was a packed house.

Met our friends at the restaurant. This was their first time dining at Chez Francois and on their bucket list before a big move to St Louis (my wife & I have been there several times in the past). We were greeted by the owner and offered a table in the enclosed veranda overlooking the Vermilion River - beautiful early evening views. The lead waiter (Dave) & wait staff was extremely attentive, ensuring our dining experience was outstanding. We were presented an overview of the menu, offered wine pairing suggestions and tended by the wait staff for our every need. The food was beyond excellent and well worth the price. I started with a lobster bisque (topped w/puff pastry) loaded with tender chunks of lobster claw meat. This was followed by a fresh, expertly presented boutique salad and then a surf & turf main course featuring veal, a sea scallop, a jumbo shrimp, lobster meat & accompanied by a vegetable side. Our dinner companions had similar delicious gourmet dishes. It was definitely a bucket list-worthy evening! As I hinted; this is an expensive restaurant and proper attire is required (jacket for gents - no jeans). However, the price for experiencing delectable French cuisine at Chez Francois is still far less than a plane ticket to Paris. No more than 45 mins west of Cleveland; this is destination worth visiting!

What an experience!! I thoroughly enjoyed every second at Chez Francois. The food was exquisite. The service was the best, Rachel took such great care of us! We were tucked away in a private room, and felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. I wish I lived closer, but the 50 minute drive will not keep me from coming back! Highly recommend!!

Had eaten here a number of times and enjoyed it. A couple of years ago we went with another couple. I told the waitress that I would order the $65.00 lobster thermador but did not want to deal with lobster shells. She said that they would take it out of the shell for me so I ordered it and my wife did also. Having lived in New England for 60 years and having eaten a great deal of fresh and canned lobster I knew immediately that the lobster we were served was not fresh but canned or frozen. We chose not to say anything because we did not want to embarrass the other couple we were with. A few days later my wife called the restaurant just to make them aware of our disappointment. The manager she spoke to said to her "I warned him about this" and transferred her to another who she thought may have been the chef. He said "well you got plenty of lobster" she told him but it was not the fresh lobster we expected. He said OK took her name and address and sent a personnel check for the $130.00. I can only conclude that who ever decided to substitute canned for fresh lobster thought that an Ohioian would not know the difference.

The delicious food, impeccable service, and charming ambiance made for a memorable experience. My experience at Chez Francois was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived until I left, I felt welcomed and pampered by the food and the service.

This is our favorite restaurant for special occasions, and this visit was just as delicious and friendly and memorable as in the past. We chose the Prix Fixe menu with wine pairings and each course was presented well, tasted wonderful and paired nicely with the wine. We'll be back!

Beautiful romantic setting restaurant. We come here yearly for our anniversary. Would recommend this place for any special occasion. Food is delicious. The special veal chop with risotto is one of the best meals I've ever had. It's nice to have a local restaurant in the area that is still formal and feels special.

Went here a few months ago with my boyfriend. To start off, the service was incredible, we also got free treats from the kitchen. The atmosphere was great, decor was great, most things were good. However we were sat in the very very back near a window, plagued with fruit flies. My boyfriend got a beef wellington which was delicious, while I had a flank steak special. I'm well aware flank steaks aren't the most tender cut of meat, but I figured for nearly $70 it would be good! I was sadly wrong and it was VERY chewy and definitely not worth $70. Then for after dinner I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, usually made iced with condensed milk. However, I received a hot latte. I told my server my drink was incorrect and was in fact NOT a Vietnamese coffee. He said "Oh you didn't say you wanted it iced." Which is ridiculous because even if it was a 'hot' version it wouldn't have steamed milk. But anyway, he brought it in the back and I 100% know he just poured my STEAMED MILK over ice. It was watery and disgusting. Luckily that was the cheapest thing I ordered, but it left the sourest note in my mouth. Will never be returning for dinner, possibly a visit to the bar, but we'll see. For a nearly $300 meal, I'd like to leave happy.
