I only had a few reasonably priced alcoholic drinks on the patio. I would like to try the Czech beers next time.

Absolute rude staff. Avoid here, especially for Third Thursday’s.

Christian was a great server. He explained the meals perfectly and made suggestions that turned out to be amazing. My taste buds were surprised and delighted!

Stumbled upon this place while out for a one-tank drive on a beautiful fall day. We hadn't had eastern European food in a long time and decided we'd try this instead of the standard burger. The place was really busy, but on entering we noticed it was mostly bar business at 1:30 pm. There was a local bar hop/treasur hunt to raise funds for the local pet shelter taking place, so all the places were busy.

The place is dark and outdated looking, showing a general lack of maintenance. There was only 1 single user bathroom operational in the 2 room restaurant. Most patrons were at the bar. I am not a fan of carpeted floors in restaurants because of the sheer volume of bacteria and dirt permanentaly lodged there.

The waitress was very friendly, and accommodating, and whatever positive rating I can give would go to her. It appeared that besides the multiple bartenders, she was the only waitress, though she could easily accommodate the 5 tables taken for dining.

My husband ordered the chicken paprikash with spaezle ($22), while I ordered the weinerschnitzel (veal I only learned because I asked) ($27). For the general ambiance these were pretty stemmy prices to be sure.

The chicken paprikash came with a ladle full of spaezle and 2 3x2 inch pieces of chicken breast from what had to be very old chicken as it was tough and stringy, and a large spoonfull of sauce (no onions). The underlying flavor was paprika and sour cream and nother else. The weinerschnitzel was deep fried with a breading, and very thin slice of veal, at best 1/4 inch thick. It was extremely dry and was very salty, and I like my foods a bit saltier than most. I had to peel off the breading and eat the otherwise unseasoned thin slice of veal, or I would have had nothing to eat. The spaezle was tasteless, and had a slightly musty taste to it, as if the flour was stored in an old musty basement. Even salt didn't help this. We both left our spaezle uneaten.

This was not a $55 dollar lunch (we had a coke). A local diner could have prepared a more edible meal for half the cost easily. It's a very limited menu, and they probably do better with the appetizers for the bar area. Clearly, there's no money going back into the place.

Save yourself the indigestion. There are better spots to dine in Vermillion.

Great service, disappointing food. Chicken paprikash tasted like the paprika had been on the shelf since Reagan. Maybe an off night?

Edit: my son has been vomiting all day after eating here, and my wife is sick as well.

Not a fan! Never in my life have I been spoken to like Vera (the owner perhaps?) spoke to me and my friends! If I could leave zero stars I would! Never going back!

We stopped in with a group of 12 for dinner and had a good time. The food was pretty good and so was the service.

Enjoyed some Czech beers and chicken paprikas with the biggest dumplings I have ever seen. Our kids enjoyed the pretzels and the fried cheese & potatoes. Very busy on the patio, but we had the inside to ourselves. Kids had fun playing pool and darts while we waited for the food (only one server on at 2p, she was doing her best!).

Upon entering, there were no patrons eating inside the restaurant so we sat outside where a handful of folks were and a bar. Had the world’s best dark beer supposedly and it was the highlight of this visit. The half roast duck tasted old and just wasn’t good at all, neither were the sides.
