We have been twice. Drinks were great and food was good; bartenders were welcoming. One detail that we found off-putting both times; when you walk in, there is no apparent host/hostess - but once you step in a couple feet you hear “do you have a reservation?” from behind you. It was awkward to us both times and made us feel somewhat less welcome than I am sure they intended. This place is a 20 out of 5. The tasting menu at the bar is such a fantastic experience. The food was beyond amazing. Josh was a brilliant host, explaining each dish, the background and his personal touches. The cocktails were perfect. The flavors of each course had so much depth, but the portions were spot on to highlight the flavors and feel satiated. We had no clue what we were getting into, but would recommend the bar tasting menu 10000x over. It was intimate but not intrusive.

Based on the reviews, Farnsworth Cocktail & Oyster Bar in Waterville is a great little restaurant in an old bank. The atmosphere is nice, fairly quiet, vibrant, intimate, and welcoming. The staff and owner are beautiful, friendly, and engaging. The food is consistently excellent, with a tasteful menu that changes seasonally. Specific meals recommended include the baked oysters, the hamburger, the smash burger, and the raspberry filled beignets for dessert. The handcrafted cocktails are excellent and above average. The tasting menu experience is highly recommended, and the food and wine pairing is amazing. It is a hidden gem with exceptional price-to-value. Even the oyster bar has zero fishy smells. Reservation recommended.
