CaféLaVie Bakery & Cafe is a great little bakery in West Jefferson with a bakery/diner feel. The ham & cheese croissant is delicious and the breakfast croissant gets a Chef's kiss. The cheese cake is great and the chocolate chip cookie is freaking fabulous. The chocolate Long John and cheese Danish with strawberry preserves are also very good. The menu has a BLT, a chicken salad with cranberries, lettuce, tomato mayo on a croissant, a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a freshly made croissant, and French toast breakfast. The sandwich board offers a giant sandwich and a variety of different kind of sandwiches. Prices are very reasonable and the amount of food is good for the price. The coffee station has black coffee with a station to add your own cram/sugar but do not expect lattes or specialty coffee. The pasty case has delightful looking things and a long cooler full of desserts and donuts. Service is warm, friendly and helpful. The owner is sweet, hospitable and personal. The energy in this small town cafe is rare and the heart and soul put into food is amazing. Parking is behind the building or a small bit of on street parking. It is worth every cent and calorie.
