The Old Plantation Restaurant offers a great dining experience with an excellent atmosphere and exceptional service. This historic eatery is known for its Southern-style cuisine and unique ambiance, housed in a three-story cobblestone building originally built in 1910 as a hotel. The restaurant has a colorful past tied to figures like Bonnie and Clyde and Al Capone. Restored and reopened in 2008, it features wood floors, an exposed industrial ceiling, and historic photos lining the walls, creating a rustic yet welcoming vibe. There is a huge covered porch with plenty of seating where guests can relax and watch the world go by.
The food is widely praised, particularly the tender and flavorful Ribeye steak and the standout pork chops. Customers enjoy huge portions, and the meals often come with fresh bread and honey butter. While the servers can occasionally get overwhelmed, the service is often excellent, with some visits featuring friendly staff. However, there are times when the service can be slow or inattentive, which can impact the experience. Despite this, it remains a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering a pleasant atmosphere and amazing food that rarely disappoints. The one downside is that the on-tap beer selection may not meet everyone's expectations, but overall, The Old Plantation is a good place to eat and a number one go-to for many visitors.
