Brisket was obviously steamed. Meat was gray and obviously not smoked. Sides are seriously a joke, so tiny my chihuahua would eat more. BBQ next door is much better.

Good Quality BbQ!!
Portion sizes are skimpy compared to Rib crib (next door) but it's still a good experience.

This was the most expensive BBQ sandwitch I have ever eaten. 1regular sized sliced beef sandwitch 1 regular sized chopped beef sandwitch ( they were smal sandwiches) 2 small bags of Lay's chips and 2 fountain drinks was $34 and some change . Gonna pass if I am ever in Ponca City again. Didn't look at my receipt until I got back in the car after lunch. Glad I waited until than or I would have fainted in the resturant over the price.

The Truth Shall Set you FREE

No buns, just cold plain bread from a bag. I'm sorry, but BBQ is supposed to come on warm, toasted, buttery buns. Every BBQ restaurant, festival and food truck ithat I have ever visited has the buttery crunchy fluffy buns, it's what makes the sandwiches so good!! Why bother with the bread at all at this point if nothing is "done" to it? It's not freshly baked, not buttered, nothing. Everytime we have gone in there, it's a ghost town. There are usually 1 or 2 tables with people eating and that's all folks. The brisket was cold and dried out!! The BBQ. Sauce was not warm, it was cold! What is this place doing? I have heard it was better when it was owned by Head Country, not "Dannys". I really wanted to like it....but I just can't. I've tried many different times over the years and I just leave feeling disappointed. This restaurant needs to update...keep the BBQ moist, have warm sauce, have toasted buns. This doesn't seem that difficult to me. But maybe that's just what they do. And how they have always done it. When we came in the past and ordered potato salad, it came in a tiny ramekin, the size of one spoonful of potato salad. I just don't get it. We came here because we had won free money from the chamber of commerce '"Santabucks"....but even after spending "money" that wasn't my own, I was still bummed out. It was just such a let down. People go to BBQ joints with high hopes....((sigh)).....we won't be back, sadly even if it was free.

You know, they say you can always tell how good a restaurant is by looking at how full/packed their parking lot is...

I will say the restaurant was clean and tidy and they did make us fresh French fries, but we were half done with our meal once they were brought out. They seemed to be a small portion as well. I hope Dannys can re-imagine their BBQ or reinvigorate the menu. It could really help them!! They have been around a long time, so maybe we just consistently caught them on bad days/poor occasions. It could be a coincidence.

Staff were helpful and friendly. We had ribs and brisket. Tender and delicious. Sides were delicious. Brought some home as it was too much to eat! Beans and potato salad was excellent.

Expectations are a funny thing. It's possible that the enthusiastic recommendation of a Ponca City local may have set expectations too high. They went even higher when we saw the fancier BBQ place that's literally next door - surely Danny's must be AMAZING to stay in business with so much nearby competition!Well, tastes are individual and local, so I wouldn't tell any Danny's fan that they're wrong. To us, it was just a good meal. But it was pretty cool to see how a place that looks fairly plain and small on the outside is big and nice on the inside.
