“We ordered takeout from Wong's Garden for the first time and tried eight dishes. They were all amazing! The fried rice, chicken balls, and special fried tofu balls were our favourites. We will definitely order again!“

“One of the best places in Kingston to eat.

The food is incredible, you feel great afterwards, the soup broth is extremely deep and very well developed, and the very clear difference in noodle quality is great.

With that being said, my friend has a gluten allergy and other food restrictions for medical reasons. Her stomach cannot handle gluten or too much spice. She still comes here all the time and usually she asks for the same order with no soy sauce and no spice. Usually she gets a nice order with no issues and the servers do a great job of ensuring that she doesn’t get sick from it.

The other day we came in and ordered her usual, she said the soup was a lot darker than her usual and asked the rest of us to try it. We all took a sip and immediately could tell that the oil had that prominent sichuan spice and she did not want to take the chance. She got the shrimp fried rice instead and she was happy after that, but was very disappointed that she couldn’t have one of the only meals that she can eat.

As an update today, the tiny sip that my friend took the other day had made her feel pretty bad. If she had just gone ahead and ate the whole thing she would’ve been locked up in the house for a long time.

The vigilance of the servers are hit or miss. Usually it’s a quick check us asking us how our food is doing, constantly checking on our water, asking us if we need anything else. This visit was weird, the server did not check up on us at all and I had to get up to communicate. She didn’t pass by ensuring that the new dish will be safe from allergens. But she did save us the burden of paying for a dish no one could eat. The server only filled 3 cups and left mine basically empty. She walked away with the water jug and then just didn’t follow up.

I understand that other things are going on in life and work, but already having a great sitting with customers requires maintenance of quality.“
