Waited over an hour for breakfast, yes the place was busy but the food wasn't worth the wait. And the orders were wrong when we finally got served. The waitress was nice and apologized for the long wait but friendly staff doesn't make up for poor food.

My family and I have been coming to Jack's Family Restaurant for about 10 years now, and it's one of those places that has truly become part of our routine. Whether we're celebrating a special occasion, grabbing dinner after a busy week, or just don't feel like cooking, Jack's is always one of our first choices. It's become much more than just somewhere to eat—it's a place where we always know we'll be welcomed with a smile and leave feeling satisfied.
The first thing that has always stood out to us is the staff. In a world where it seems like employees come and go everywhere, it's refreshing to see so many familiar faces year after year. Many of the servers have been there for over five years, and some have been there much longer. That kind of consistency says a lot about the restaurant and how it's managed. Over the years, we've gotten to know many of them, and several even greet us by name when we walk through the door. It's a small gesture that makes a big difference and immediately makes you feel at home.
As for the food, the fish and chips have always been my favourite. After trying fish and chips all over the area, I still find myself coming back to Jack's because they consistently get it right. The fish is always fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked with a light, crispy batter that isn't greasy. The fries are excellent, and everything arrives hot and fresh. It's one of those meals that keeps you coming back time after time.
What I've really enjoyed lately, though, is seeing the restaurant introduce creative weekly specials. The Seafood Mac & Cheese was outstanding. It was rich, creamy, and packed with seafood in every bite. The Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was another winner!
One thing I appreciate is that no matter what I order, the portions are generous and the quality is consistent. That's something that has become harder to find these days.
Beyond the food, what really makes Jack's stand out is how invested they are in the Lakefield community. I've personally seen them support the Lakefield Chiefs over the years, and I've also seen them generously contribute to Lakefield District Lions Club charity events by donating gift cards and helping support local fundraising efforts. It's clear they believe in giving back to the community that supports them, and I think that deserves recognition.
Too often, people only take the time to leave reviews when something goes wrong. I think it's just as important to recognize the businesses that consistently work hard, treat people well, and contribute positively to their community. Jack's Family Restaurant has done exactly that for as long as I've been visiting.
If you're a local and somehow haven't been yet, you're missing out. If you're passing through Lakefield, it's absolutely worth making the stop. You'll find delicious home-cooked food, friendly staff who genuinely care about their customers, and an atmosphere that feels comfortable from the moment you walk in.

I visit Jacks every 2-3 months when i head to out to Lakefield from the city to visit friends. Every time me and wife go there we are impressed. Food is always good, home cooked style meals. Atmosphere is perfect for a small town diner, selection is great and wide, i can get a burger, fish and chips or a big ole' chicken and ribs dinner. I wouldnt consider another restaurant in town, its my favourite destination restaurant!
Popped by her as we were passing through and absolutely loved the place. The food, the vibe and the staff were all great. Definitely will be going by again when I drive through Lakefield
