About The Ravenous Taotie 川铺

The Ravenous Taotie 川铺 is a vibrant and cozy restaurant that offers authentic Sichuan cuisine with a fun and quirky atmosphere. Known for its ‘dry’ hot pot, it is highly praised for being delicious and saucy, often considered one of the best spicy Sichuan foods in London, rivaling places like Jin Li hot pot. The hot pot is very hot and flavorful, with generous portions of protein, making it a satisfying choice. The rice dishes are also delicious, and the vegetables served cold provide a refreshing palate cleanse. The restaurant’s aesthetic features cosplay figurines, waifu statues, and Otaku-themed decor, creating a lively environment that appeals to anime fans and casual diners alike.

Service is friendly and quick, with staff showing a positive attitude. The restaurant’s partial self-service style, where diners write their orders on sheets and manage their takeout containers, adds to the casual and welcoming vibe. The menu includes dishes like Braised Sparerib Noodles, which are tender and flavorful, with a perfectly spiced broth, and the Hot Pot with Soup, featuring black fungus and fried tofu. Customers appreciate the generous portions and authentic flavors, though some find the spice level milder than expected.

Overall, The Ravenous Taotie offers a unique dining experience combining delicious Chinese dishes, playful decor, and a friendly environment. It’s a must-visit for lovers of spicy Sichuan food and anime culture, providing a memorable and enjoyable meal every time.

I recently moved to London and was having a hard time finding good Chinese food. Thank the heavens I found this place: the food was so delicious and the portions were huge (at least two meals worth). My mouth is watering just thinking about my leftovers in the fridge. Something to look forward to tomorrow! I hope this place continues to thrive so that I can keep coming back and have someplace Chinese I can recommend to others coming to London.

Looks like an anime shop, tastes like Chengdu. Boiled fish was amazing at normal spice level. Don't get hotter unless you are sure! Huge portion for one person.

Food here is excellent
