“Jay's Garden vs. The Furry Terrorist
Look, the food here was very good. Exactly what I expected. The wonton soup was very good, the egg rolls were very good, and the chicken chow mein was very good. The staff inside were also incredibly friendly, which was nice, because they provided the last shred of human warmth I would experience before stepping into a tactical war zone.
I drive a Jeep. Waiting in that Jeep was my Maine Coon—a 25-pound, prehistoric apex predator who apparently woke up and chose absolute anarchy.
I stepped inside for a grand total of sixty seconds to grab my food. In that brief window of time, this miniature lion transformed my Jeep into a hijacked mobile command unit. He didn't just accidentally bump a button; he executed a coordinated, multi-point breach. Using his massive, human-like thumbs, he slammed the master control panel, rolled every single window down, unlocked all the doors, and activated the panic alarm.
I walked out of Jay's Garden to a scene of pure madness. The horn is blaring, lights are flashing, and my cat is sitting dead center on the hood of my Jeep like a demonic hood ornament, screaming at the sky. He wasn't just trying to hotwire the ignition; I am 100% convinced his actual plan was to drive my Jeep straight through the front doors of the restaurant, smash-and-grab the entire kitchen, and flee the jurisdiction with every ounce of chow mein in the building. He didn't escape, but he held the entire parking lot hostage, completely humiliated me, and proved himself to be the biggest pain in the ass in the entire province of Ontario.
But actions have consequences. Because of his planned auto theft and attempted grand larceny of Chinese takeout, the furry felon got absolutely zero human food. Not a single bite. We got home, and while I enjoyed my very good dinner, he was forced to eat regular, unseasoned cat food out of the bowl of shame.
Jay’s Garden is so dependable that I survived a vehicular coup d'état by a feline mob boss just to eat my dinner. 10/10, exactly what I expected. The cat is officially grounded until 2030.“

“This restaurant has revamped into an AYCE hot pot restaurant. Most of the toppings are self serve, including many different cuts of thinly sliced beef and lamb. From Spam, enoki and shiitake mushrooms, tofu, three types of noodles, shrimp, seaweed, quail eggs and so much more variety.

There's even a self serve dipping sauce section with tahini, fermented tofu and sesame oil and a Chinese jelly dessert available. Aside from hot pot, they also offer some fried selections like dumplings and takoyaki.

Favourite is pitchers of iced tea or thai iced tea are available for AYCE and grilled oysters (?!) for a decent price, which is unique to Londons food scene. Decent service, willing to accommodate and never felt rushed. Will continue to come here besides other hot pot restaurants in London.“

Moderate and well-balanced flavour, and the portion sizes are decent. Food preparation is efficient during off-peak hours. The prices are competitive, and there is an extra 5% discount available.

The pricing of rice is a bit stingy: a small bowl of rice is not refillable for one person, and two people have to spend more to get a large bowl of rice, which is a drawback.“

I laughed to myself that it was for just me because it was enough for 3 people easily. the amount of chicken in the chicken and mushroom chow mein was honestly humbling and amazing it was so much I felt bad for not leaving a tip ! The pork fried rice was maybe the best I’ve ever had as well you could taste the breath of the wok and again so much pork !! Great tasting as well ! This is definitely a hidden gem in Byron. “We are new to this place, as we were frantically searching for somewhere new because our old go-to place shut down. After a lot of disappointments, we found Wong’s Gardens and we are so pleased with their food. We’ve had two orders so far and there will definitely be a third!

The eggrolls and wonton soup are delcious…and so is the Lo Mein with beef. The beef mushroom chop suey and the diced chicken with vegetables and almonds are also wonderful. It’s not listed on the menu but the lemon chicken is also good.

It’s difficult to find a good Chinese place in London now, but Wong’s Garden is the exception. Finally a place who knows how to make decent food! Thank you so much Wong’s Garden and we are very much looking forward to our next order with you. Happy Easter! 😁“

“Had a great dining experience at Congee Chan! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The highlight for me was their incredible chicken served in an American Chop Suey bowl—it was perfectly cooked, tender, and coated in a rich, savoury sauce that paired so well with the dish. Every bite felt comforting and satisfying.

The congee and other items on the table were just as tasty, and you can really tell the food is made with care. Portions were generous, and the overall experience was warm and enjoyable. Definitely a spot I’d recommend if you’re craving comforting, flavour-packed Chinese dishes!“

“Fortune House on Southdale Road is hands down my favourite Chinese restaurant. The food is always fresh, flavourful, and consistently delicious. Customer service is top notch every time, and the prices are fair for the quality and portions you get.

I usually order the Dinner for One Set B and it never disappoints. There was a short period where I noticed the portion size had shrunk a bit, but I’m happy to say it’s back to normal. I’ve also ordered several other items off the menu over the years, and everything has always been just as fresh and tasty.

This review is long overdue. Fortune House continues to be reliable, delicious, and worth every order.“

“Great taste and big portions for the cost; my first visit ever (recommended by a friend) didn't disappoint even though my order came in 2 bags and I only saw one on the counter when I picked it up. When I got home, i was a bit annoyed because some of my order was missing but apparently they tried to contact me after I left (I never heard the call but I was driving so I couldn't pick up anyway) and I didn't discover the missing items until I got home; it was a dismal weather night but I went back to get the rest of my order; it was all there in the end but maybe in future they could staple the 2 bags together to ensure the 2nd one doesn't get missed. They said they pushed the much smaller 2nd bag towards me on the counter but the pickup space is tiny and I never saw the 2nd bag, only the big one in front. Again, if the staff member had said something I would have known to look for a 2nd bag. No big deal but it's the little things that count. The food and value were still worth it however... just make sure you pick up all of your bags the first time 😉“

“Visit: May 27,2026

I went with my family for a birthday lunch on a Wednesday at noon. I have been here before (two years ago) but I thought I’d bring my family here since they’ve been wanting to come for awhile (and it’s a bit of a drive for us to come here all the way from the north east part of London, so we’ve only decided to come for special occasions).

The food is amazing! This is real deal Chinese food. We ordered the tray for 2 (bobo tray) for appetizers. Main Course: Vegetable fried rice, Tofu with Mixed vegetables, Bok Choy, Sweet & sour chicken, General Tao Chicken and the seafood volcano mix on sizzler plates. Everything was outstanding! Food came out quick, hot and fresh. The service was amazing too we loved talking to the owner, she was very outgoing. We also loved the oldschool layout inside, it brought a sense of nostalgia to how Chinese restaurants looked when I went to them growing up. I’d highly recommend you go and try this hidden gem out!“
