Before the pandemic, the restaurant was known for its ice beds and buffet stations filled with a variety of seafood and meat, including scallops, abalone, and sea cucumber. These premium items were included in the price, and customers could take an unlimited amount. The restaurant also offered a wide range of meats, such as angus beef cubes and sliced beef, lamb, and pork.
However, after reopening post-quarantine, the restaurant replaced the seafood and unique items with cold appetizers, salads, and desserts. The premium items that were once included in the overall price were now limited to two per person. The quality of the angus beef cubes was also disappointing, as they were tough and not premium.
Despite these changes, the restaurant still offers excellent service, well-marbled meat, and an excellent sauce bar. The table service is also top-notch, with the initial round of meat brought to the table with dry ice presentation. The restaurant also provides aprons for every guest and seat covers for jackets or outerwear.
Xiang Zi Hotpot offers a lunch all-you-can-eat option for around $50 per person, which includes all soup bases, tax, and tip. The food comes quickly, and the staff is super nice, making it an excellent location for a hangout.
Overall, Xiang Zi Hotpot offers high-quality ingredients, excellent service, and a stunning atmosphere. However, customers may be disappointed with the changes made post-pandemic. Nonetheless, the restaurant remains a popular dining destination in the city.
