“Saturday night was my first visit to HD and I have to say I was impressed. As a person who has known Dave for many years he has hit a home run here. “Berkeley North brings a creative, seasonal flair to downtown Hamilton, and while not every dish hit the mark, there’s enough promise here to warrant a return.

We opened with the Mushroom Dumplings — easily the highlight of the night. Rich, savory, and balanced with just the right kick from the chili oil, they’re a must-order (10/10). The Tuna Crudo followed with a refreshing citrus ponzu that brought the dish to life — light, clean, and enjoyable.

The Gnocchi, on the other hand, missed the mark for me. Despite the menu’s promise of roasted squash and pork, the dish lacked seasoning and came across bland (5/10). The Rainbow Trout helped bring things back with a well-cooked fillet, artful presentation, and a flavorful Aji Amarillo pepper sauce
simple, but satisfying.

We also added a side of fries, and they were surprisingly good crispy, well-seasoned, and perfect for sharing.

Service & Setting:
The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, with a kitchen that clearly values local ingredients and visual presentation. Service was smooth and professional throughout.

Final Take:
Berkeley North has undeniable potential. While one dish didn’t quite land, others truly delivered and I’ll be back to explore more of the menu. If the rest is anything like the dumplings, there’s a lot worth coming back for.“

“Burst through the door here on a Saturday night like someone owed me money. My old man and I were out tearing it up before he was going away for 2-3. We saddled up at the bar rail and let it fly. We pounded Black Russian after Black Russian until the heavy set woman beside us became unrecistable. Autopilot took over around 1am and I woke up on the floor of a Motel 6. 10/10 would recommend this bar if your father is going to jail.“

“We held a celebration of life for my dad at sam"S 03/27/22. The whole experience was amazing and welcoming. The establishment was clean and very courteous too my family and friends. They went above and beyond to help us in any way. Definitely will be back to enjoy their food and music and overall atmosphere.“

“I live right next door to these people they are incredible people Sammy his wife and daughters are very very nice always and the food is incredible and at a great great price the beers are cheap also so if you want to have a great meal and a good time come to Sammy's Bar and I'm right next door so I eat in I take out I do everything there their food is delicious

“This bar is located inside Tim Horton's field and I'm pretty sure only open during events. The service is a little slow but probably because it's during games and very busy there. You can get liquor here which is nice bc some of the bar areas in Tim Horton's field only serve beer.“

Wish they had more tables and space. Also better to ask them about the dish, as some descriptions doesn't say that it is spicy, which would be frustrating for someone who can not tolerate peppers.
