“I was told about this place by a friend at work and decided to give it a try. I am so happy I did! I was immediately greated by a very nice guy named Mo who was extremely pleasant to talk to. Once I got home and my girlfriend and I tried their shawarma wraps, we immediately looks at each other with big smiles. “I like Shelby’s Shawerma. When they first opened in Nepean I visited many times and the quality of the food was consistent. However, last weekend I visited for a take out order and the restaurant was so hot as the A/C was not working. While I was waiting for the my food order to complete, I was sweating. So, I can only imagine how the two lovely ladies working were feeling during their shift. With the severe heat we’re experiencing this summer, I hope the restaurant’s management resolves this problem as soon as possible to ensure the quality of food remains consistent and their employees are not suffering during their shifts.“

“My absolute FAVOURITE shawarma place. Can't sing its praises enough. Extremely friendly staff, generous portions (no stinginess with the meat!), fresh and delicious food, all very reasonably priced. Family run place, I think there's exactly one employee there who isn't part of the family.

While I usually get a beef shawarma wrap or plate here, I NEED to shout out the falafel - it's by far the best falafel I've had in the city. Not the best I've had period, but for Ottawa it goes hard as hell. Wish I knew about this place for the 13 years I was vegetarian, because it would've been a lifesaver. None of that dry stuff that plagues this city. Pretty sure the mom makes it.

I’ve tried so many falafel places in Ottawa that I’ve lost count, and this one is by far the best. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and flavorful. The owners are also super sweet and welcoming. It feels like you’re entering their home, and they treat you like family.

The shawarma was excellent as well and had a delicious homemade taste.

In fact it was one of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world! The shawarma was also excellent. “I discovered La Joie Shawarma about two years ago, and ever since, it’s been part of my weekly routine. The food quality is consistently top everything tastes fresh, and you can tell a lot of care goes into each dish.

The garlic sauce and hummus are incredibly flavorful and perfectly made. As for the beef and the chicken shawarma sandwich, all dressed with spicy sauce and sesame, it’s hands down the best shawarma I’ve had in the Ottawa–Gatineau area. Nothing else comes close. I honestly can’t enjoy shawarma from anywhere else now.

The owner and his team are super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Just a tip: try to get there early at lunchtime because it gets busy really fast!

I'm a bit shy when ordering sometimes, and the server who helped me was incredibly kind and welcoming. He was patient, friendly, and made me feel comfortable right away, which I really appreciated. It's a small thing, but it made the experience much more enjoyable.
