I just moved to the area and this is really close by. I had the oxtail it was really good and tender. I will be back
Went there for the first time on Friday July 3rd; I was greeted warmly by a gentleman in the front. He was polite and quiet helpful. I ordered med chicken soup and my friend ordered ackee and salt fish with fried dumplings. The chicken soup was flavourful and was exactly what I was craving. I tried a few bites of ackee with the dumplings and it was really tasty.

I called before I went, To inquire about the soup, she told me to have chicken and red pea. The lady was very nice. She even told me to get better after I went. I ended up going with the chicken soup. My only issue was I think the large is still pretty small otherwise than that, it was great. I did actually make me feel a bit better

Champs Caribbean Restaurant in North Oshawa offers authentic Jamaican food, including real goat sauce and ackee and saltfish. Customers praise the goat sauce and coleslaw as standout dishes. Recent reviews highlight the tenderness of the Ox Tail with red bean rice and Ox Tail gravy, which reminded diners of Kingston and left them very satisfied. The jerk with rice and peas is also a favorite, often ordered multiple times a week, and praised for its delicious flavor. However, some guests have experienced issues with the service, describing staff as disrespectful and rude, especially a young lady who is new to the team. The food remains highly appreciated, but there are concerns about portion sizes, as some found the king fish with rice and peas to have too much rice compared to the fish. Additionally, there have been complaints about the fish soups, which lacked pieces of fish despite tasting fishy. Customers note that the food and overall service are generally good, but improvements in customer interactions, portion consistency, and food packaging could enhance the dining experience. Overall, Champs Caribbean Restaurant provides a taste of Jamaica with flavorful dishes, but there is room for growth in customer service and portion control.
