The Clarendon Tavern Reviews
The food was great. The cocktail were also very good . The staff was very professional and attentive . I highly recommend this place .
I’ve been to the Clarendon several times and always enjoyed the food and hospitality. Dinner tonight was again served well; but I object to having a large tip automatically added to the bill total. Especially when the price of wine/drinks was extortionate. I would likely have willingly tipped a similar amount, but to presume the same as ‘mandatory’ is rude and disrespectful, particularly in a country that has a reasonable minimum wage. This review was a 5/10 for our experience on Sunday brunch. The service was friendly but not very fast. My husband and I were hungry and looking forward to our orders of Eggs Benny and Chicken n Waffles. His came on the very well done side even could say burnt. The Clarendon Tavern offers a mixed experience, with a lovely ambiance, especially in the outdoor section, that enhances the dining experience. While the service is attentive and friendly, some diners found the food and drinks to be slow in arriving. The pizzas, particularly the prosciutto and fig, are popular, although the 4 cheese pizza disappointed one guest, lacking sauce and having a floral/sweet taste. The braised beef received praise, but the potatoes were described as overly salty. The atmosphere remains pleasant, with a decent noise level allowing for conversation. The burger has been noted as plain and overpriced, while the sirloin steak, despite its great flavor, was tough. Recent reviews, however, have been positive, with diners praising the Katsu Chicken, tomahawk pork chop, and fantastic cocktails and service, even during a busy weekend. The Clarendon Tavern remains a great choice for casual dining and drinks, especially for beer and pizza in the Byward Market area, making it a popular spot for visitors to Ottawa.
