I am upset that they are closing. This place has been a go to for me and my family for amazing Chinese food for the last 20 years. Thank you for everything and I wish you the best. I will never have better deep fried tofu :-)

It's decent by Ottawa Chinese food standards, and they have some authentic dishes if you know what to look for. We've also tried a few of their western Chinese dishes but weren't too impressed, finding that the meats had too much batter...but no biggie since we normally skip those. Food aside, the place truly needs a revamp...the carpets are old, dinnerware is super dated, tables still use plastic tablecloths and I'm not going to get into the state of their washroom. The overall experience reminds me of restaurants from the 80s in China. If you can overlook those things it's worth a try, otherwise there better places to get Chinese food in Kanata.Vegetarian options: Large menuKid-friendliness: I think they have highchairsParking: Lots of parking

Food is great - one of the best general tao in the city. However the restaurant could use a good upgrade.

We went as a family party of six for a pre-Christmas get together. The service was attentive and friendly. Everyone appeared to enjoy their food. At least that was what they were saying during the meal.I'm vegetarian and so could share with the rest but the dish that I had was supposed to be spicy and it was that and delicious as well.I would certainly go to this restaurant again. We intend to go back for an anniversary dinner in the next couple of weeks.Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian selections on the menu.Parking: Ample parking in the mall lot

I was HUNGRY when I came by this place. Got egg rolls, fried rice, and ribs. All of them were really good! Price very affordable. While I've had better Chinese food in other places there is absolutely nothing wrong with Rideau and since it's in Ottawa I recommend it 100%

They did a fantastic job for my mom's Surprise Birthday get together with our family and friends. Everyone had a great time and food was delicious, fresh, great quality and quantity.

We went to this delicious restaurant several times now. What a wonderful surprise to find authentic Chinese food in Kanata!Reading some of the other reviews saying the plum sauce was bad.. really?! Did you even try the actual Szechuan specialties or real Chinese/Hong Kong style food or just egg rolls and Chop Suey i.e. the fake Canadian take out junk?Ok forget the other reviews!! And order something off the menu that is not the typical take out stuff! The food is served piping hot, fresh, quickly and friendly! It's a joy to go here and enjoy every bite!!The decor could use a bit of an update but still amazing food and service.

I moved to Kanata from Chinatown and it was so hard to find good authentic Chinese food here in the west end. Honestly, I love the food here, IMO it's one of the best Chinese food restaurants in Ottawa, their shrimp+eggplant is unreal and the black pepper beef is amazing. (pretty much everything else is great too, I order from here at least once a week) Definitely 5/5 stars.

Egg rolls and almond soo guy were so greasy and hard that we Could not even eat them. Called restaurant to complain this time as it was the second time the food was sub par. Too bad but won’t go back again after years of using this restaurant. Very disappointed

The plum sauce was bad. As I do, I pour it onto rice and egg rolls and serve my family. The plum sauce does not smell good. It has been watered down before but this is much worse. One bite confirms that dinner is ruined. The plum sauce was rotten, bubbly and smelled foul. Drive back to the restaurant, concerned, to explain the situation. Need new food because the plum sauce is bad. I’m told that “I’m not supposed to pour plum sauce on my food, that’s not how you eat it”.That set the tone for the next hour, waiting for an owner / manager to stand behind their food and product. The lady I spoke to said that she could not do anything, I had to wait while they served other customers. After 40 minutes the same lady, no sign of a manager still, asks what I’d done with the food. I explain it’s still at home, in my rush to resolve the issue, I only brought the plum sauce. She says I need to bring the food back to receive a partial refund based on what I brought back. Had to ask someone else to drop what they were doing to gather the food at home, take another car and drive the food over.At this point I’m no longer interested in replacement food but only want a refund. Other customers came and left…one customer came to make an order and I told him not to order egg rolls because the the plum sauce is rotten. I asked him to smell it to confirm it wasn’t just me, he confirmed that it was bad. This customer couldn’t believe the way I was being treated and he decided to leave. The sad part is that we’re both regulars at this restaurant and this is the first time that I complained about my food. Because of the way they chose to handle the situation, I will never go back or recommend this restaurant again. In the end, after an hour of waiting and having returned the food, finally got a full refund. We’ve been going to this restaurant for years, even supporting this local business through COVID, but for us to end it on a disgusting and disrespectful note is simply disappointing because it could’ve been easily resolved.

This is the one of in Ottawa . I have been going to this place for the past 18 years and the quality has not even changed a bit. Salt and pepper shrimp is one of the best. They have special on the board it's in Mandarin. You should point and ask for cryspy chicken and vegetables.

Amazing food and the service was the fastest I have ever seen. We ordered our food and I kid you not, it seemed like five minutes our food was being served. Awesome experience!

We enjoyed the food, service was a little slow but it was right at dinner hour and their take out business was impressive. The only negative I had was the place needs some maintenance and a fresh coat of paint.

Found large black and grey hairs in my food. Brought it back and they claimed that they don't have black or grey hairs (my hair is blonde) They lady at the front had black and grey hairs on her head (imagine that!). The staff started yelling at me and caused a scene. So unprofessional and disgusting. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
