Monday, around 5 pm. My boyfriend took me to a deserted food court because we’re in the mood for a snack. There was hardly anyone around, hard to tell from the outside whether the place was even open, and most of the shops were closed. But the few that were open included this spot… you know what, that actually made me sorta more optimistic.

A classic food spot. My go-to when I’m in the area. Never disappoints. Get their shredded potatoes cold dish, it’s so delicious.
A great spot for traditional northern Chinese cuisine, especially for brunch. They offer freshly made buns that are soft, warm, and very satisfying. The green bean crepe with fried dough is a must-try, with a nice balance of texture and flavor, and the soft tofu soup is also comforting. The menu focuses on classic northern-style dishes, making it a reliable place for an authentic and casual meal. Highly recommended.

While wait times can be longer on weekends, the food is well worth it. Located in a Scarborough food court, the restaurant has plenty of free parking and is wheelchair accessible. Although service has gone down over the years, the food remains delicious and nostalgic. YuanYuan Restaurant is a cozy spot for those craving northern Chinese comfort food and street-style snacks.
