low grade quality not worth the pay
Food ordered from Uber eats is completely different from the fine in quality.
Attaching the “baby pig” dish as an example - never saw a 2 inch thick baby pig!!
The whole bag of food was soaked in sauces from the beef brisket which was hard and dry.
We’ve ordered many times before, each worse than the previous time.
Completely lost confidence!
The roast pork is tooo salty… Prefer Moon Palace
My favorite lobster 🦞 and steam fish. It's kind of expensive
Their salt and pepper Japanese tofu!!!!! Must get!!
The experience is very bad
House of Gourmet is a solid Chinese spot with a huge menu and something for everyone. The sweet and sour pork is my personal favorite in the city. It’s great for groups, big or small, and super accessible—right in the heart of Chinatown with easy transit access.
Fast, budget friendly.
Good daily specials.
Go-to dish: beef brisket & shrimp wontons with rice noodles. Add chilli oil.
It’s a Chinese restaurant with an ambience where you can have a conversation without being loud. The food depends on what you order. Our salted egg rice with shrimp was good but the dry chilli chicken felt dry and overcooked. The service is good. But it was more of a one-time experience for me.
Restaurantji Recommends
I’ve lived in Toronto for over 10 years, and I absolutely recommend this Chinese restaurant! The food is incredibly delicious and authentic. Located in Toronto’s Chinatown, this is the only Chinese restaurant I truly recommend.
If god put heaven on a dish, it would be here.
A homely atmosphere with quick food preparation time. However the food came out room temperature, even the congee, which was a disappointment, since the meats and soup should have been hot Or atleast warm.
Sometimes the staff are very rude, i asked for water refil 3 times and the woman keeps egnoring me and i saw her falling hands over feet for Asian customers, I guess I'd have to dine with an Asian to get service.
Delicious shrimp wonton noodle soup! The broth was light yet flavourful. We ordered some garlic baby bok choy and shrimp rice rolls as well to share. The rice rolls were okay, not as soft and fresh like we’re used to. Can’t blame them though — they’re not a dim sum house. But the other dishes were yummy. They also serve some chilli crisps — but you have to request for it because it’s not available at the tables. It’s probably one of the best chilli crisps I’ve had. Quite a flavour bomb, spicy and they’re available for purchase as well. We regret not grabbing a jar of it when we were there. Welp, time to plan for another visit!
Taking a few stars off because we were realllyyyyyy thirsty after our meals 😶🌫️
