great food and service.......
Even during a pandemic....
am an occasional regular when i get to town to see the grandkids ... RLP is a local and friendly spot where a stranger can drop in for a pint or two and immediately feel welcome. and it is right by the Mt Pleasant Cemetery which is one of Toronto's many great urban green spaces.
seems like the closed sign has been up since Feb ... has the place shut down? C'est dommage?!
The Red Lantern Pub was a neighborhood favorite known for incredible food like the euro burger, nachos with beef chili, and quesadillas. The classic pub atmosphere with familiar faces made it a go-to spot for many. Unfortunately, after 55 years on Merton St., the Red Lantern has permanently closed due to various setbacks, including the impact of Covid-19 and the loss of one of the operating partners. Despite its closure, loyal customers fondly remember the friendly staff and the owner who made the place feel like a home away from home. The girl who frequented the pub daily for the pizza and fries combo expressed her deep sadness at the closure and thanked the staff for going above and beyond to make her feel welcome. Farewell, Red Lantern Pub, you will be greatly missed by the community.
