You ain’t coming here for food. Not really. I actually didn’t have any there but the menu seemed sparse. It doesn’t matter. I’m sure it is just nibbles and bites. What you come here for is the ambiance. It is fantastic. Great music and great decor. Like you are stepping into some 1930’s club. Great blues band when I was there. Friendly and fast service. Not very big. But one of the best experiences on the Danforth. Felt like I was in New Orleans or Chicago.

A serendipitous detour along the Danforth led us to Sauce, and what a fortunate accident it proved to be. This intimate champagne bar, cloaked in moody, lounge-inspired décor and bathed in low amber light, possesses the kind of effortless allure that larger establishments spend fortunes trying to manufacture.

The evening's great revelation was the live music — a recurring fixture here, we were told, and one that transforms the space entirely. In such close quarters, the performance felt less like background entertainment and more like a private concert among friends. It is increasingly rare to encounter this calibre of atmosphere in a city awash with venues competing for attention, yet Sauce accomplishes it with disarming ease.

What elevates the experience beyond mere ambience is the warmth of the staff. There was a palpable sense of community from the moment we arrived — regulars greeted by name, newcomers folded into conversation without the faintest trace of pretension. The hospitality here is genuine and unhurried, the sort that makes one linger over a second drink without ever feeling rushed.

While the food offerings remain modest, the bar itself is well considered — a thoughtful craft beer selection and, for the discerning palate, a notable rum collection. The covered back patio, complete with its own bar, adds a charming secondary dimension to an already versatile space.

If there is a criticism to be levelled, it is simply that the venue's compact footprint can feel snug on busier evenings — though one suspects the regulars would call that part of the charm. A Danforth gem that rewards the curious visitor. Highly recommended.

Liked the vibe. I got 1 draught beer, came out to $15 and some change with a tip and tax.

The staff are all so kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere is excellent! We used this space for a small photoshoot + drinks before an event, and the staff were great with communication when arranging it + very accommodating when we were there.
