“Stumbled on this place when I was looking for a quick bite. I was gonna go through the Burger King drive-through, but then I saw the donut shop and had to give it a try.
I am so glad I did!
The orange zest buttermilk bar is to die for.
The couple running the shop are adorable and very kind.

“The guy behind the counter was SUPER NICE!!! However, the donuts were way too sweet, I had a Maple old fashioned, and my son had a frosted sprinkled vanilla cake. He said the same thing, it was way too sweet. However he said the chocolate raised ring donut was delish! I had also ordered a Bavarian cream, which I didn't end up eating and let our roommate have and she said it was delish. So I guess it just depends on if you had a cake versus a raised donut, and how sweet you like your donuts.“

The lady working laughed and said no, in that tone that means why would you even ask that. I thought she was joking and kinda laughed and she laughed again and said her boss doesn’t allow her to do that and I just said ok, and then she laughed AGAIN and said no. Ok I got it. No box. I’ll go to Krispy Kreme and get a box from them. Still tipped because the donuts are bomb but maybe ask your employee why she is laughing at customers requesting a simple thing. I’ll stick to sesame donuts by the airport where I know the employees are nice.“

“I pass by here all the time but decided to try it today. I got coffee with boba and a donut and it was $10. Their donut flavors are super interesting, I got Reese's cheesecake and it was great. I like that the donut wasn't iced AND frosted so it wasn't too sweet, the perfect amount of chewy.

I see some reviews about the service but the guy at the counter was polite and prompt, no complaints at all. They also have Korean style corn dogs I want to try next time, I'll definitely be back!“

“This is our go-to donut shop! Seriously the best traditional donuts. Always perfectly fried. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Their fritters are one of my favorites! My son loves that their bear claw has apples.(so yummy) Everything is great, you can't go wrong with any choice here. “Blue Star Donuts at the South Waterfront location is such a treat. I sat at the bar facing the windows, which has about ten seats, plus a few tables behind it. The space feels relaxed and welcoming, perfect for slowing down and actually enjoying your donut. Miles was my donut master and made the experience even better with his friendly energy.

I tried the Blueberry Bourbon Basil donut and it truly lives up to Blue Star’s reputation for adult donuts. The blueberry is bright and both tart and sweet, the bourbon adds a soft smokiness, and the basil is subtle but present. The brioche donut itself is springy, tender, and incredibly soft. I may or may not have licked the last bit of icing off the paper.

I also had the Raspberry Rosemary old-fashioned cake donut, which was outstanding. The raspberry glaze is bold, fresh, and seedless, bursting with flavor without being overpowering. The donut has a light crunch on the outside with a moist, soft crumb inside. Even without the glaze, the cake stands beautifully on its own.

On a second visit, I shared a few donuts with my daughter. The Chocolate Bergamot old fashioned had a dense crumb with light chocolate and a gentle Earl Grey citrus note. The gingerbread donut with yuzu and ginger liqueur was aromatic and moist, with warm spice and a nice citrus lift, though I wished the gingerbread flavor was a bit stronger.

“Early on a drizzly morning, I was greeted kindly with superb service. The shop has a cute old school donut shop vibe, complete with helpful staff.
Now on to the donuts! The chew of the raised donuts is nearly perfect. The dough is light, not cloyingly sweet and with the slight chew you're looking for in a good raised donut. I highly recommend their filled donuts. Also, the chocolate glaze was decadent again with that alright balace of sweet. Now on to my favorite, the sesame donut is a must. A plain cake donut with a light glaze dipped in toasted sesame seeds! This mildly sweet donut is perfection. I'll be thinking about it until I get it next!

“It will call you by name when it is done and even make coffee art. The pressure is off to leave a tip. The time between the shot of coffee and the steamed milk is about one minute. People will tell you that need to happen in less than 15 seconds, but honestly, I can't taste the “

“I love the variety of flavors they have. My mom and I have gone multiple times (sometimes in the same week! ) and had a chance to talk to the owners and a couple of the baristas, all of which were very friendly and love to offer suggestions of flavor combos (that is, if you can't pick from the fun flavors they come up with every month). I also love that they offer a dark and light roast coffee and you can still actually taste the coffee, not just the sweetness from the syrup in the fancy drinks. They have a good balance.“

Smooth, creamy, firm, but not too firm, a rich, utterly delicious crust that was more like layers than an actual crust. Moist through and through!
