“I’ve been to this location a few times now and there’s a lot to like BUT... The coffee is great, donuts are fine (don’t really live up to the Portland level hype), but the seating feels a little like hostile architecture. On the wood benches there’s a lip at the top that digs into your back. I can’t take it for more than 10min and I leave in pain. I rarely write negative comments but the pain in my back compels me to share this to warn other coffee+donut shop nomads. They have WiFi but no bathroom (at least they said they didn’t when I was there) I want chains like this to succeed but I don’t understand how an owner allows this kind of thing to slide.“

“Seriously the best donut shop in Portland, without a doubt. I don't know what they are doing differently, but the dough tastes better and is so light and fluffy and not just a sponge soaked in oil. The frosting tastes like a mouthful of BUTTER oh my god it is heavenly. I think most of the other donut makers are skimping on the butter or using a substitute but holy crap the difference is night and day. The bismark is amazing, they don't skimp on the filling either! Those bad boys are packed to the brim with custard, as it should be!

The older folks that run the joint are super kind and welcoming, the interior seating is humble but is always clean and well cared for.

“This is Portland best doughnut shop, not the pink boxed shop. They are cooked well, and flavors are pronounced that make you want to try another type. Non coffee/tea options are lacking but it's worth the expe.

“This voodoo donuts require a security guard at the front door who only lets in one person at a time to be served. I bought two dozen donuts one box was their premium at $40 and the other box was their regular donuts The total bill was $66. Besides the extra chocolate and the designs on the premium donuts all donuts tasted like every other donut.“

“This location was once a Winchell's Donuts, so for me, Heavenly had a lot to do to attract me back. They didn't disappoint! There is a big fresh selection of cake, raised, and filled donuts to choose from.

Parking: They're co-located on the lot with a convenience store so there's plenty of short-term parking.“

My go-to flavors are Cointreau Crème Brûlée and the OG. If you like tart flavors, get the Lemon & Lime Curd. Any Old-Fashioned has a great texture. The Matcha Crumble is not super sweet, yummy for matcha fans! Blueberry Bourbon Basil was different! You can’t go wrong with most of these flavors. Not your typical donut shop, more ~fancy~.“

My mom and I have gone multiple times (sometimes in the same week! ) and had a chance to talk to the owners and a couple of the baristas, all of which were very friendly and love to offer suggestions of flavor combos (that is, if you can't pick from the fun flavors they come up with every month). I also love that they offer a dark and light roast coffee and you can still actually taste the coffee, not just the sweetness from the syrup in the fancy drinks. They have a good balance.“
