“Wow, awesome experience. Our only complaint was not finding this restaurant 18 months ago when it opened. Wait staff was excellent, the kind who remembered your order and never wrote down a single item. Sommelier was very helpful. Home made pasta dishes were the best in the city hands down, and to top it all off, price point was very good ! We felt at home in the rustic Italian atmosphere and were very impressed with selections. Will be returning very soon. Highly recommend, 5 out of 5.“

“We went on a Tuesday evening. Absolutely great vibes. Easy parking (always a plus). It’s a unique spot. I’ve lived here my whole life and honestly nothing was worth stopping in until now. “One of the oldest bars in the entire area that's still going strong! Hell my Dad and my grandfather even when he was young was a regular here. Use to be rather a small bar but they bought the other side and the place is looking amazing with now 3 times the space if not more with just as expanded back area! I don't go as often as I use to but I highly recommend this place any day of the week to anyone old or new to the area. Located downtown by campus on 13th and Patterson. Awesome staff, great atmosphere, good fun times even with karaoke, and all the free popcorn and peanuts you can eat to soak up those drinks lol. Keep up the great work Max's!“

“My service dog was not allowed to enter. It’s against Oregon law to not allow a service dog in. When someone had a disability they need the service animal.
Service animals are trained not to get into food or bother people .

“These people were amazing. They welcomed me in as if I were family, the cook was on point and had my food in front of me 5 minutes after I walked through the door. The owner is a very beautiful, friendly and smart entrepreneur who obviously has been doing the food and beverage scene foe years. Nice pool tables, beautiful outside seating area... my chicken was absolutely flawless, good portions, good good good. Highly recommend these wonderful people!! 4 thumbs up!“

“A Chef’s Honest Take on Grid Iron Grill & Tap House

Last night, we visited Grid Iron Grill and Tap House — and what I thought would be a casual night out turned into a memorable experience that truly deserves recognition.

The atmosphere was immediately inviting, with a 90s music backdrop that made the space feel both nostalgic and warm. We reconnected with a friend we hadn’t seen in years, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect for it. The hostess was incredibly kind, made jokes and was attentive. You could tell that care and presence are part of the culture here.

Now, as someone who has a degree in culinary arts and owns a restaurant myself, I don’t take food lightly. I understand the energy, the precision, and the intention it takes to create something simple and make it excellent. And I’m not exaggerating when I say: the burger I had last night was the best I’ve had in the Eugene/Springfield area.

I ordered the classic burger with cheese and a side of onion rings — and every single element was executed with thought. The onion rings were crisp, perfectly cooked, not greasy or soggy. The burger was built on a beautifully soft bun and came layered with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. But what impressed me most was the intentionality.

The vegetables weren’t tossed on carelessly — they were fresh, placed with purpose, and balanced the burger from the first bite to the last. The lettuce was crisp and dry, the tomato was vibrant and flavorful, and the onion added the perfect crunch. The patty itself was cooked just right — not too thick, not too thin — and it had been allowed to rest, which is something many overlook. The result? No soggy mess, no bleeding juices, just a beautifully composed bite every time.

Even the fact that it was served on a plate instead of a basket made a difference. It felt like I was being served a meal, not fast food — and that matters.

I was so moved by the attention to detail that I asked to meet the chef. Neil — thank you. I looked you in the eye and said it, but I’ll say it again here: your care and precision came through in every bite. A burger may seem like a simple menu item to some, but crafting something simple with excellence is no easy feat. It’s often the most overlooked dishes that require the most discipline, and Neil reminded me of that.

This meal reminded me why I do what I do. Food is energy. Every ingredient, every technique, every decision — it all matters. And Neil proved that it matters here.

We’ll absolutely be back. And next time, I’m ordering the steak. Because if a burger can be done with this much care, I can only imagine what else is coming out of that kitchen.

It is a laid back environment and the bartenders are chill, just be prepared to show your i.d. most likely you will be asked. But its a laid back crowd. “Had an excellent lunch today at Cornucopia in Eugene, our first time there. I had the Jero's Smoked Bacon Cheese Burger with Gouda cheese on it. Very delicious, juicy combination of flavors and cooked perfectly. My husband and I split our sides. The fries were wonderful, hot, coated and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. My husband had the American Cheese Burger with Swiss which he said was great too. He ordered the coleslaw and it was just the way we like it... not too sweet, not too tart. The service was also wonderful. We sat outside with our little Dachshund and our server was right on top of it. Would highly recommend them! (The only downside was the price. Expect to pay $20 for a burger, $20-30 for anything more than that. I know, everything's gone up, but it's still a shock.)“

“I ordered takeout. It came quickly and the food was good, but the roast duck was overpriced.
It cost around $30 and I got less than half a duck worth of meat.

This is currently the only place in town I know of that sells skillet cooked pig intestines. Again, the serving was rather small for the price.“

“Which is a good time to cafe but it seem to stand for always too busy and even though they take your order and help you it seem like a chore for them I would not recommend doing their during rush hour as that's when I went there and it was very full and very hard to get my order across.“
