“This place is great, so many friendly regulars here every weekend. Simple selection of drinks, very affordable, very strong cocktails, so be careful, lol. It gets a bad rap because the proud boy's hang out here, but they are super friendly and always make us feel welcome, definitely a diverse group of men that are welcoming to anyone friendly! If you are wanting to get away from all the pretentiousness of Portland, this is a great place to go and just kick back and have some fun with real down to earth people!“

“I live in walking distance of this place and have to say it is quite the gem. The vibes are always relaxed and comfortable, bar tenders are friendly and laid back, the cheeseburgers are delicious and very reasonably priced, and the drinks are good! On top of that, their new pinball selection (7 machines!) makes this place too good to be true, with two of my all time favorite machines. Happy its in the neighborhood. Don't be fooled by its unassuming facade, Old Gilbert is a perfect neighborhood bar and a Mt. Scott institution.“
“The vibes are immaculate. The music is perfect and not too loud, so you are able to have a conversation. The clientele are polite. A good and affordable late night food menu. “I was enjoying my Valentines Day by myself, the situation become slightly weird & I became uncomfortable & went outside to vape & talk with my sister. A group of women thought I was maybe being loud or didn't like the conversation? They made fun of me and said I was annoying. I tried to not bother anyone or instigate any drama & felt extremely bad and embarrassed about the situation. I ignored that group & tried my best to move on. The bartender got the "vibe" so to speak and was understanding enough and vigilant enough to know my private situation. He treated my very respectfully and well throughout the night. I don't want drama or confrontation & he made sure that I felt safe and comfortable. I won't go into details, but he MADE SURE I was taken care of & safe given what happened. One of the most understanding and respectful bartenders I've experienced in a while. (Bryce?) is very cool as well. After I went home and thought about all the interactions that I experienced, I cannot give enough respect and admiration for this bartender. I will be coming back in the future because of the "vibe" so to speak & the human kindness I was shown given my private situation. 10/10 Will come again.“
“Classic dive. Friendly folks. Great patio (though no heat). Wifi and they don't care if you work. Phone chargers on the bar are a nice touch. Food cart connected and they're happy with anyone bringing food in from any nearby establishment. Free pool 6-midnight everyday. Pinball. Several TVs. Always people at the bar if you wanna chat, but also plenty of tables around if you wanna chill.“
“This neighborhood bar is a gem. The bar is spacious and inviting, with a wonderful bartender ready to pour to your liking. The drink menu has great suggestions if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed, so choose the drink for a cause and you can't go wrong. Our group joined the Whiskey Club, where you enter a different whiskey that you have consumed while visiting. They keep the list on file and there is no expiration date, so drink at your leisure. What do you get other than a scarred liver? A t-shirt proclaiming your Whiskey Club Crowning at Brooklyn Park Pub, $1.00 off all whiskey drinks for life, and bragging rights. The patio out back has plenty of room to gather with friends. Enjoy this bar, I wish I had this in my neighborhood. Great service and a fun time was had by all.“
“Fun atmosphere with lots of TV’s for all of the football. Portable, lottery and pinball. Simple eats but good. Bar was quick and solid. Bartender was friendly and service was him and also good. We had cocktails and nachos and watched some football. Nice stop in after walking around Multnomah Village. Food carts down the street. Parking is a bit dicey with no parking lot but we lucked out with parking right in front. Tons of pedestrians so keep an eye out.“
