A perfectly cozy, contemporary cut-above the local dive bars (which have their own charm, to be sure), Canary has a cool but not 'too cool for you' energy, a stellar menu, and a really great owner that seems to understand the locals have dozens of options but CHOOSE to come here. Bravo, Canary! Will be returning to get me some of that chicken & waffle love!
Canary is simply a gem of a place. The vibe is always so relaxed. The service is always great and the food never misses. My wife and I have had practically everything on the menu for brunch and dinner since they opened. The Canary Burger is one of the best in Portland. Not overly complicated. Little neighborhood bar with truly excellent bar food. It was pretty quiet when we went in but drinks were good, staff was friendly, but otherwise that was about as much as I would say about it. Decent but not amazing patio, a sort of lounge seating area. Could be a decent place to grab some drinks.
