Cute patio, great location, fun menu. The service was spotty. It was 3 of us at 5pm. People around us were helped much quicker. We had to ask for silverware. We got drinks but then he forgot to ask for our food order, we had to flag him down. One of our beer glasses rim was dipped in sugar instead of salt. Two tables around us sat after us and left before us. We had to ask for the check. The food was ok. The chicken arepa was missing the extra ingredients. It was just chicken and the corn cake. The ceviche was very very salty. The side salad with mango was yummy. The veggie empanada was yummy.
It was our first time at CereusPDX. It's a very small, unassuming place that's well equipped to seat gueats outdoors in almost any weather. The cocktails were extremely well executed and mostly unique. The bar was comprehensive. The food menu is selective, seasonal, innovative with traditional South American foundations, and supremely executed. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The pace of service was sensitive to the situation -- no rushing or neglecting guests. This is definitely a place we'd like to revisit!
Exquisite food. Fantastic service.
I found this place googling tapas places in Portland and found this gem. It has a variety of different styles of dishes at great prices. Everything was delicious! We followed up dinner with dessert and we were not diappointed either. The atmosphere is casual and for this time of year could not ask for better weather too. They have unique cocktails I've not seen elsewhere and received wonderful recommendations from staff.
On a personal note, I have a strong garlic intolerance and this place has many options I could eat and enjoy without garlic! Most of the menu actually. :)

What a wonderful evening we had! My drink the Mango Diablo was top notch. Food was good, and certainly unique. Our server was excellent, and was able to adapt the menu to meet the dietary needs of one of my dining partners. The plates were not large, however the price was fabulous considering 3 adults were full from sharing 2 small plates + 1 side salad and 1 ceviche.

We had a great time here. We sat at the bar and had great conversation with the bartender. He made us some excellent drinks and was extremely knowledgeable. He also made good food recommendations. I’d highly recommend the ceviche.

Food was okay, only tried the Arepa con Chicharron and the Fried Yucca. The Arepa itself tasted great but was a little surprised by the unmelted shredded cheese. The fried Yucca had a chewy texture and itself kind of bland but the sauce they serve it with is divine. Only soda they serve comes in mini cans. Staff was awesome.

What a gem of a restaurant!! The bar program is fantastic (esp Darkwing and Vicente!), but the food was truly exceptional. It’s always a good sign when you’re thinking about what you ate the next day!

I'm puzzled by the abundance of 5-star reviews for this place. My partner and I dined here a couple of nights ago, and the food was almost inedible. We eagerly ordered four different tapas, as we're big fans of Colombian food, but were extremely disappointed.
The yucca fries were cold, chewy, and inexplicably covered in Parmesan cheese. The tofu arepa was equally disappointing—chewy, not spicy at all, and the sauce tasted like marinara on cold tofu chunks, with a stale arepa to boot. The ahi tuna patacones were the only somewhat edible dish, though they were so sour we winced with every bite. The ceviche was particularly bad, tasting rotten rather than the familiar sour cream ceviche style we enjoyed on our trips to Cartagena.
To make matters worse, our waitress informed us that the chef doesn't come in on Sundays, which might explain the poor quality of the food. Despite leaving most of the food untouched, we were still charged nearly the full bill. On a positive note, the service was good and the pisco sour was enjoyable, but these couldn't redeem the overall experience.

Caribbean Ceviche was to die for! The shrimp was so flavorful. The pork belly app with the plantains was also a favorite. We tried the empanadas as well. They were tasty. The drink we had was "head in the clouds." The drinks were refreshing, delicious, and the restaurant was such a great vibe. I can't wait to go back again.

Some of the worst food I've ever had. Server said the chef doesn't really come in on Sundays and that's why, but the food was stale, chewy and flavorless except for the ahi dish that was like eating a sour patch kid. Despite not eating anything and sending it back, we were still charged $40... The pisco sour was delicious though.
Drinks are really good here! Empanadas were the group favorite.

Had been looking forward to trying Cereus for a couple weeks. Impressed every step of the way. Love the color scheme, the varying flowers on the tables, comfortable chairs, outdoor seating, and of course the food and drinks. Tried four food items and my wife and I had a couple drinks each. Everything was fantastic. Each item has its own flavor, the drinks all came in a different style glass. Service was fast and friendly. So happy to have tried it, will be back for sure.
