Hidden gem! Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday and tried their crispy basil chicken. I’m very glad I did as the meal was delicious and the portion very generous.

Also well maintained restaurant that is very clean and quaint. Highly recommend this place!

Service was quick. The place is warm and comfortable. The food is nothing special, at all! I have been 3 times since it opened years ago. Each time I say never again. Got desperate again but that was the last time. It is so disappointing. How does it stay in business?

We had a wonderful experience at this Thai restaurant! The ambience was cozy and romantic, and the service was impressively quick. The menu offered a great variety of dishes — we especially loved the young coconut green curry. The staff were incredibly kind and even offered us some extra food to take home.
Highly recommended!

Good Portland Thai. A bit heavy on onion in the curry for my taste, but generous with the protein. Timely service and clean restaurant

Edit: Also, phenomenal presentation of the food, also added a picture

City Thai in Hillsdale is truly one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Portland. The atmosphere is cute, cozy, and welcoming, and the food has a more authentic Thai taste compared to many other places in the city that tend to make dishes too sweet. My go-to favorites are pork dumplings, and the Thai-style shrimp paella rice—all cooked to perfection and full of flavor.

The owner(Summer) is incredibly kind, caring, and always makes me feel at home. The service here is both warm and professional, with staff who are attentive and always smiling. Another thing I love is that they change their seasonal menu every six months, which keeps the dining experience fresh and exciting.

If you’re looking for authentic Thai cuisine with consistent quality, a cozy atmosphere, and genuinely friendly service, City Thai is a place I highly recommend.

City Thai has consistently excellent food, service. And the atmosphere just makes you wanna hang out and relax. I’ve been to many of the local Thai restaurants in the Portland area. And many of them have the flavors that you expect, but aren’t exceptional or make you feel that you’re getting something new or with a special touch. But City Thai delivers that experience every time. With seasonal rotating menus. With a unique twist on almost every dish. And having popular items make it hard to choose what you want.

Most people when they go to a Thai restaurant they’ll order pad, Thai or curry. Yet this restaurant makes it very easy to step out of your comfort zone with recognizable ingredients and a unique slightly Americanized approach to authentic Thai cuisine. Yet it still feels unique enough to where it breaks out of the normal traditional Thai restaurant experience in a good way.

You won’t be disappointed with the quality of the food, the attentive, kind, and polite servers And the overall vibe and ambience.

You can tell the employees like their jobs that relax and they know what they’re doing. And the experience has always been a positive one. Make sure you consider this place next time you want Thai food and I guarantee you’ll find your next favorite spot!

Gorgeous atmosphere. Soft shell blue crabs were delicious, salmon Basil-Curry was just a delight. I would probably chose a different protein than seafood as it was a bit bland. Nothing a little salt and siracha couldn't fix. Everything tastes very fresh !!

Delicious local Thai spot with authentic Thai food and rotating specialties. They recently updated the interior and expanded the menu. They have all of the traditional dishes you expect to see as well as some that are well loved but not on every menu, like khao soi and pad woon sen, but then they have tons of amazing options I’ve never seen elsewhere that are SO good. Portions are good and prices are decent, you’ll need to come more than once to try a few!

This meal was forgettable. The rice was overcooked and mushy. The stir fry was bland and too liquidy, but the vegetables were well-cooked. Portions were a bit smaller than expected for the price. Additionally, we were surprised to see that they add an additional charge for the protein--ALL the proteins, including tofu and chicken -- which is not standard practice from my experience with Thai restaurants and makes the dishes overpriced.
We did takeout, which probably impacted the quality of the food.
I liked the brief impression that I got of the restaurant's atmosphere.
