About COQ AU VIN

Coq au Vin offers a warm and intimate dining experience that feels more like being welcomed into someone's home than eating out. The restaurant emphasizes a true farm-to-table approach, sourcing fresh, seasonal ingredients from farms and gardens. The chef and owner, along with the wine curator, create a thoughtful and carefully crafted menu, showcasing dishes like the beautiful, buttery duck and homemade pâté paired with farm-made jam. The pappardelle is delicate and crafted with care, though some may find it lacking a bit in flavor depth. The wine pairing is exceptional, with each pour chosen to perfectly complement the dishes, enhancing the overall meal. The service is seamless, and the hosts exude warmth and sincerity, sharing stories about their inspiration and building a connection with guests. The experience is unique, charming, and memorable, making it one of the most special meals in Portland. While the cost may be on the higher side, the quality, craftsmanship, and heartfelt atmosphere justify the price, leaving guests eager to return.

From the moment we stepped inside and until we were making reservations for the next time, we were treated to some of the most exquisite food, wine, and hospitality in Portland. Creative, fresh, and lovingly prepared, each course had us proclaiming that THIS was the best bite—until the next one came. This place felt like a French dinner party in a country home in the Loire valley. Incroyable

My husband and I had dinner at Coq au Vin last night, and it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish.
The restaurant is run by the talented chef George and his lovely wife Rose who handle everything themselves, and their commitment to quality is unmatched. They offer a spectacular 6-course degustation menu that changes frequently based on seasonality and what is available locally, sourcing everything straight...read full review
