“In a city full of great restaurants, L'Echelle has made it into our regular rotation. It checks all the boxes: nice atmosphere that's elevated but not stuffy; pleasant and competent service; a reasonable price-point for the quality of food; and a few dishes on the menu that are so good that we order them every single time. $15 for a plate of fries initially raised my eyebrows for sure, but these are no ordinary fries, my friend. They are fries from heaven and I get them every, single time. The panisse is also really special and not a dish that one comes across very often. I do wish they had a burger only because if they did I just know it would be amazing. And those frites beg to be accompanied by an amazing burger.“

“I make it a point to visit Canard Burnside on all of my trips to Portland! The unique flavors and presentations on their menu keep me coming back for more. Had the roasted beets last night for the first time and the flavor was out of this world.“

“My wife and I come here for special occasions and last night we celebrated her birthday! As always, the service was excellent, food was impeccable, atmosphere was cozy, and a very enjoyable experience. It is a small place which only adds to the intimacy of service and atmosphere. The owner is a great guy who is very knowledgeable in all his dishes and wines which were incredible as well! We love C'est Si Bon and will continue to come here everytime we want to celebrate something at a special place!“

“We did the chef's menu for a friend's birthday and it was wonderful! The food is great, the drinks fabulous, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I was honestly shocked the last seating wasn't full, but I guess that leaves open spots for walk-ins.“

“From the moment we stepped inside and until we were making reservations for the next time, we were treated to some of the most exquisite food, wine, and hospitality in Portland. Creative, fresh, and lovingly prepared, each course had us proclaiming that THIS was the best bite—until the next one came. This place felt like a French dinner party in a country home in the Loire valley. Incroyable“

“I had a memorable dinner at Higgins Restaurant. I ordered their Oregon Mushroom Set Menu, and each dish reflected their respect for local ingredients. The wild mushroom bisque was particularly delicious, with a smooth texture and rich aroma. The waiter was very professional and attentive, explaining the background of each dish. The elegant yet relaxed atmosphere was perfect for a leisurely meal with friends or family.“

“The Bistro Alder is the restaurant inside the Dosier Hotel and it serves delicious food and drinks. We only dined here and did not stay at the hotel. The restaurant was empty when we arrived around 9pm and were promptly greeted by a wonderful hostess who took our drink and meal orders right away since we already knew we wanted the Portland Restaurant Month meals. The food came out quickly as we were the only ones there initially. As time went on a couple small groups of 2-3 arrived and even then the hostess managed to hold down the fort to include waiting, serving, bar tending, and bussing. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and would certainly come back to enjoy a meal or a couple of drinks.“

“We had a wonderful dinner at St. Jack! Our server, Jill, was fantastic and recommended a lovely Chenin Blanc that paired perfectly with our meal. (For the wine name it is ? but it was delicious 😉)
We started with the Green Coriander dish, followed by the Ling Cod with chanterelles, summer corn, and champagne sauce, which was outstanding. The Moules Robuchon with saffron, ginger, and orange had incredible flavor.
The Chocolate Marquise was the perfect ending, especially paired with Jill’s recommended dessert wine, which complemented the chocolate beautifully.
Excellent food, thoughtful service, and a memorable evening. We’ll definitely be back!“

“I stopped by this wine tasting room while visiting from out of town and honestly, I didn’t want to leave. The space is so warm and inviting. It immediately felt like the kind of spot I’d be a regular at if I lived nearby. Cozy, charming, and perfect for a laid-back evening or a quiet date night.
The wine selection was fabulous. I tried a few different pours and loved what I tried. And the food was absolutely delicious without trying too hard.
What really made the experience special was the staff. They were so kind and attentive. Friendly in a genuine way, not just polite. It felt like they really wanted me to enjoy myself, and I did.
I truly wish I lived closer. This would be my go-to spot. Until next time!“

“Our group had a lovely brunch on Sunday. The service was great-informative and attentive. We all had various egg dishes. Mine was the chorizo hash. Mildly spicy with perfect eggs and potatoes. Excellent assortment of tea. Definitely a place to return to“

“Went here for the first time last night and love everything about it. The cocktails were perfect, so balanced, interesting and delicious. We had dessert only but look forward to returning for more food. The bartender and server were excellent and working so hard. The only downside was that it seemed understaffed. We sat at the bar and watched the bartender making soooo many drinks at once. We had time, so we didn’t mind the wait. Can’t wait to go back.“

“Lillia Comedor provided excellent food with wonderful inventive flair as to ingredients and sauces and overall food presentation. Service was both very efficient and very friendly/ pleasant without being overly intrusive. Portions from the Chef's menu were reasonable even for big eaters such as myself. We understood that the quality of the restaurant required a high level of expense vis a vis the quality of the food artistry and the ingredients used as well as the level of service. Thus we had no issues with the price points of the food. However, unless they manage some national write up's such as Kann, which has roughly same price level ( maybe even a little higher) has received I worry that the Portland dining population may not find it accessible given the large number of chef owned mid priced (entrees $25-35) restaurants, which not of quite the same quality are often quite good. So it would be a shame as Lillia Comedor is a gem worth the expense if one's budget can afford it.“
