I make it a point to visit Canard Burnside on all of my trips to Portland! The unique flavors and presentations on their menu keep me coming back for more. Had the roasted beets last night for the first time and the flavor was out of this world.
We loved everything about this place!
Food is delicious in general, and echoing other sentiments the duck stack and steam burgers were excellent. Duck frites was also prepared very well - best duck I've had in a while. Was not impressed by the foie gras dumpling as others were. Amazing Mikulski 2022 Chardonnay.

Canard is a French restaurant that feels like a casual neighborhood pub with standard table set-ups and no white tablecloths. The atmosphere has energy, described as busy, fun, and a little loud in a good way. The food completely outshines, with a menu that feels creative without being pretentious. Notable dishes include the iconic steam burgers, Foie Gras Dumpling, Trout, steak frites, duck, harissa snap peas, and crab crêpes (not cakes). The rabbit is a standout, mouthwateringly tender and served over unbelievably creamy chèvre whipped potatoes. Cocktails are excellent, well balanced, and delicious, including a non-alcoholic margarita that is bright and refreshing. Service is warm, attentive, and relaxed. The restaurant is not kid friendly with no kids menu, making it better for couples or adult groups. Some noise from a club above may be an issue. Overall, Canard offers an amazing, thoughtful experience without feeling pretentious.
