About Bistro Alder

Alder is a laid-back bar restaurant located in a downtown hotel, offering a unique atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. The friendly staff, including attentive waiters, provide good service. While the food can be hit or miss, sticking to classics like the breakfast burrito, NY steak and fries, deviled eggs, and truffle Parmesan fries is recommended. Many recent visitors have praised the burger, which was described as unreal, cooked perfectly with melty cheese and crispy edges, and the Korean fried chicken, known for its spicy and addictive flavor. The bar serves creative cocktails, and the ambiance, music, and vibe are generally excellent, making it a classy spot for dates. Some reviews mention that the dining experience can feel odd when the restaurant is quiet, especially during peak times. Although parking can be a challenge on busy days, there are parking garages nearby. With its perfect location, Alder is a great spot to grab a drink or meal, enjoy the cozy atmosphere, and experience attentive service, especially for travelers arriving from flights.

Expensive. Nice staff great hotel only food option.
Cold burnt fries, carrot ginger delish soup could have used a but of cream, 5 oz steak was 6/10, butter lettuce salad good but not cut up to bite size, They did offer to remake the fries but we had to get going and were starving. Next time i think a mcdonalds run would suffice.
Total dinner bill with ice tea about 65.00
Again, if this is the only option great spot chill and cozy but pricey. *** leave burnt fries off...read full review
The Bistro Alder is the restaurant inside the Dosier Hotel and it serves delicious food and drinks. We only dined here and did not stay at the hotel. The restaurant was empty when we arrived around 9pm and were promptly greeted by a wonderful hostess who took our drink and meal orders right away since we already knew we wanted the Portland Restaurant Month meals. The food came out quickly as we were the only ones there initially. As time went on a couple small groups of 2-3 arrived...read full review
The food was good, but my steak was only about half the size of what they show in the photos (maybe 3oz at most).

Fun ambience, but I don’t know if I would go back given the poor bang for your buck.
