Wow what a pleasant experience at this coffee shop! My husband and I love to try new coffee shops and we were blown away by the customer service at this shop! The barista working today (I forgot his name) was very sweet and knowledgeable on all the coffees. He took his time and answered all my questions before I settled on my typical go to order - an iced vanilla latte. We will definitely be back!

This place is a pretty decent coffee shop, definitely the best option in the immediate area. They have a decent rack of pastrys, special coffee drinks, some food, beer, and ice cream. A great little neighborhood snack spot. I've seen a lot of reviews saying the staff aren't friendly. This is *partly* the case, but Harder Day's management decisions are part of it. This company owns a few shops around town and are growing. They have a weird policy where they seem to swap people all around their shops randomly on different weeks, so you're not getting a consistent crew of the same staff in the shop. One week you could get locals, the next people from the Macadam location, etc. Its annoying for the employees to get shuffled around, so I get why some of them are probably not in a great mood. Also, while 90% of the people working there are friendly and skilled, you may get someone who's underskilled or rude occasionally on the luck of the draw. I think it would be a big help for consistency, community, and employee stability if this company would just permanently assign staff to a location. Sometimes it also sucks because there's some really cool people who work there who I like to chat with, and suddenly they're gone, sent off to another store. So, great shop, suffers from poor staffing management.

I always have great experiences at all of their locations, and I always order the latte, which can vary depending on who's making it. But most of the time, it's been great. The staff here at this location are particularly friendly and make amazing lattes.

I live very close to here but have stopped coming because the barista with the beanie and neck tattoos has the craziest attitude I’ve ever encountered. Genuinely I go out of my way to avoid them. I have not only experienced them be extremely rude and condescending to customers which is so uncomfortable to be around, but I am made to feel like any question I ask is insane by this barista in particular. They are clearly (understandably so) not hyped to be working there and dealing with the customers and I get it, working with the public myself, but it is BAD. There is no acknowledgment when entering, very dry and frustrated responses, carelessly sighing under their breath, just generally the kind of treatment that makes someone not wanna come back — I have a few other friends in the area that experience this with this particular barista as well. I now go out of my way to go to case study up the street. Sad tbh

Loved my iced vanilla latte! The atmosphere of the shop has really improved over the last few years I’ve noticed. Nyal was a great barista in helping me pick which drink to pick too!

Just got tea here so I can’t comment on their coffee but it was fine experience, there’s not a ton of indoor seating

I went here today for the first time because I live in an apartment nearby. I’ve been to every café in Portland minus a slim few and am a connoisseur of coffee and service. Today I decided to give this Spot a try because I’m within walking distance. I went in today around 3:40 and was greeted by an employee who seemed to not be in a great mood, they not only were not very enthusiastic, but seemed to kind of have a bad attitude in multiple instances, even though I tried to chat and gently ask how they were and be friendly. It seemed as if they were having a harder day lol. I ordered 2 16 ounce orange cardamom lattes which were $8.50 each and the milk, the syrup, or the beans were burned, and this ruined the coffee, on top of this , the barista didn’t seem to be in the mood where they cared about presenting it and the coffee looked underwhelming considering the standard of expensive coffee In Portland. There was no visible foam on top, signaling the pour and mix was a little rushed or careless. I was pretty dissatisfied by the time that I left, there was no stamp or branding on the cup either. It seems that maybe this is a bad day or there’s just low effort here and the coffee is expensive with not really anything else to offer. I would like to come back, but there are plenty of better places to get coffee in the city with better service at a better price. To better days.

Oh me oh my. Where do I begin. Every morning I wake up & think about the first sip of an oat milk latte with just a whisper of orange cardamom syrup, specifically made by someone who can only be described as: a hunka-hunka-burnin-love, “Cata” the barista. Sweet young ambiguous fella (?) with the neck tattoo. This establishment is my North Star. The plants do need to be watered though ………
