I had the Raconteur, with its melty brie and Swiss combined with blue cheese and blackberry preserve it was the perfect combination of savory and a touch of sweet. Absolutely divine. I also got the tomato soup to sip on too and I thought it was delicious. Definitely will be back!

It is cold and it is wet out and I wanted to have a tasty hot grilled cheese sandwich with hot tomato soup.Found this spot and was hoping it would be like the ol’Grilled Cheese Grill. The menu sounded like possibly it could but it completely missed the mark. In a sea of amazing places to eat in Portland this one stands out for how plainly mediocre it is.The sandwich had little to no flavor with the mildest of cheddar coupled with what looked like supermarket cold cuts. Was there even an apple in there? If so it went unnoticed. This all came with some potato crisps ala bag o Ruffles and an Oreo. Could we get any more creative?? Then there is the tomato bisque…yikes! Served classy in a paper coffee cup, it was reminiscent of a mix of canned soup with a bottle of Worcestershire sauce. Definitely one of the most lackluster Portland food cart experiences yet.

I got a The Ringer with ham instead of turkey. So "sharp cheddar, crumbled feta, ham, sliced apple and balsamic caramelized onion jam on portland french sourdough wheat". It was... good. So why only three stars? I dunno. Because I could have made it at home for 1/5th of the price? Grilled cheese is good. It's hard to screw up. Buy good bread, good ham, good cheese. Butter. Low and slow. Hell, skip the quality ingredients. Get generic white bread and American cheese. It'll still be good. To their credit, they didn't screw it up. The chips were crunchy. Bread was ok (but could have been better). Ham was ok (but could have been better/crisped). Cheese had a slight tang, pretty good. Apple was sliced thin which made it easy to incorporate into the sandwich, and didn't overpower it. Although I would have preferred a little thicker to get that "pop" of acidity to cut through. But yeah. At the end of the day, it felt very "supermarket quality" to me. Supermarket boxed mac 'n cheese is also good, but I wouldn't want to pay $13 for it. On the other hand, if you go to Ken's Bakery, that's a grilled cheese that you can't make at home. Great, freshly made bread that you can't get at the grocery store. Excellent quality cheeses. Etc.

This place hit the spot. I did not want my cup of soup to end! The tomato bisque was super flavorful and rich. I got the classic grilled cheese with the soup for a light lunch. It was perfectly golden and melted. The chips, mini pickles and cookie were a surprise and the cherry on top for a great, satisfying lunch. Thanks!

Great grilled cheese with quality bread. The tomato soup was a great addition to the grilled cheese. The soup has a coconut milk base which gives it a great taste

Had a hard time picking one out cause they all sounded so good, but I went with the special lobster melt and it was superb. Melty, cheesy goodness with lobster bits and cheese and some other things (I didn't know or care, it tasted good), exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately they were out of Tomato Bisque :'( It was served with chips, a mini pickle, and an Oreo which was a nice touch. My sandwich took about 10ish min. Wait times might be long if there's a lot of orders tho. Located in the Piedmont Cart Pod.

Cute little food cart in Oregon. I was staying here for the weekend for a wedding and wanted a grilled cheese really bad. The guy was a little busy and overwhelmed but he made an exception and made me cheddar on sourdough and it was delicious!!!

Hubby decided to try out other food carts, we head to MLK, where we've been in the past, before the pandemic. IDK: But, today, Grilled Cheese in my belly sounds good, with Tomato Bisque. Hubby and I both ordered the same sandwich: The Ringer. It was for To-Go. Since it was 12 mins. to where we were going to picnic, the Tomato Bisque spilled along the way. We did have a drink container cardboard holder (saved from other eatery), to rest them on, but since they had coffee lids, with holes, they splatter. They splatter even more, when we set them down on a seat. (It's washable!) I The food: Came with potato chips (it was stale by then). The Bisque, we drank it like juice. Very good. To me, hot enough! The sandwich, a bit dark, other wise they were tasty, even if they were a bit dark. (Any darker than that, I would not have like d it). The ham was very tender! I like the cute little whole pickles, and I didn't mind the mustard on them. I gave my Oreo to hubby, I was craving Peanut Clusters. I really like my grilled cheese with slices of tomatoes, with ham, best!

I was skeptical of this place.. grown up grilled cheese? The descriptions didn’t sound the best, but I tried The Ringer & went back to eat here 3 days in a row. Sad I don’t have one in my hometown. I’d eat here everyday if I could
