#1 The drum lights are Fantastic.
However-
I'll be honest, Not for vegans or dietary sensitivity (go to Gravy next door).

The only thing I could order (home style potatoes with eggs) was So spicy it wasn't edible.

The mamosa was ok.

Sorry miss delta, after wanting to try this for many years; disappointed was def the word the resonates with all folks in my party.

50 dollars for some ribs. Ridiculous pricing. If you were a Michelin star restaurant, I might consider 40 dollars for some fried chicken. If you can't make money frying some chicken for 10-13 be bucks, you are going out of business.

I’m from the country, so I’m familiar with diners that have zero competition and subsequently don’t need to care much about providing good service or good food. If I ever feel homesick, I’ll go back to Miss Delta. The inside was hot and dark. Eating outside means you get “counter service.” The biscuits were dry. I paid $10 for a swig of prosecco and the cocktail my partner got looked like the bottom of a lake at the bottom of his glass. The server placed a table set up on our table when we sat down that had a piece of trash and used hot sauce to go container in it. They also placed a bus tub right next to us when sat outside as though I just paid a 20% tip to order at a cash register. Also the tables outside were pretty gross. The gravy was okay I guess, but I will say it’s rare to need to salt sausage gravy and this needed it. This place seems like the owner doesn’t have very much pride in their business.

Visited Miss Delta in Portland and had a mixed experience. The service was good, which I appreciated, but my drink came in a dirty glass. I ordered the pulled pork, it had good flavor but was too watery, and serving it in a paper boat made it soggy. The highlight of the meal was definitely the mac and cheese rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious.”

I've already tried gumbo and jambalaya, and they are amazing! Also, the staff is very friendly and kind.
This is one of my favorite spots in Portland.

This was not it. Mac and cheese was grainy and soupy, pulled pork and ribs were dry, red beans and rice were bland. I was going to go to Matt's but this was cheaper. I guess I got what I paid for. I'll probably never eat here again. Oh and they had a bs 3 dollar take out fee

The food here was just very ok. It's certainly nothing to write home about, and it's not something I would ever get again unless I was really desperate. I was expecting better based on the reviews but honestly nothing here wowed me even a little, it was a very disappointing experience.

First of all, none of the food came out hot, it all seemed like it had been taken from warming trays and then quickly heated up, nothing seemed made to order. My brisket was pretty bland and dry. It had a good smoky flavor and the BBQ sauce was good, but there was very little flavor to the meat itself. Brisket should be moist and tender at the very least.

The sides had the same feel. The greens were probably the best part, they tasted juicy and well seasoned and were pretty good with a little hot sauce. The mac n cheese tastes like Stouffer's and had a sprinkle of cheddar on top which I found kind of odd, it would have been better with more of that cheese actually baked in. My wife's red beans and rice was pretty flavorless and devoid of seasoning, it just tasted a little bit hot like it had some cayenne pepper in it but not much else. The best part of both meals was the fried catfish, that was fried and seasoned well but wasn't very hot.

Let's not talk about the cornbread.... I'll just say that is was very dry and impossible to eat without the smear of whatever was in that little butter container. It was not butter but probably some kind of vegetable shortening.

All in all, what you have here is quick bar food being marketed as high quality soul food, which it most definitely isn't. In my opinion, this should have cost maybe $10-15 a plate based on the quality I received. $30 a plate feels a bit outrageous but that's ok, lesson learned and now I know I won't be back.

It was very slow when we came in, there was maybe one other couple in there with us when we came in, but by the time we left there were a few more groups. The atmosphere and service were good. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but I just get the feeling soul food in PDX is different than other places. I am a southerner and I have never had a good experience with soul food in this city compared to other places.
