This place is excellent for southern and soul food. Authentic vibes with no aires or pretension which is rare for PDX. If you're from the south and miss having proper sweet tea, hushpuppies, fried catfish, and great barbeque, this is the place. It is one of the few places in the neighborhood where you can feel at home and comfortable being yourself. It's not very portland like, in that it might appeal to foodies for the quality of its food, but it's not trying to...
The red beans and rice were not in the traditional style I'm used to. They were basically cooked and seasoned beans that were not mashed to create a nice, thick sauce. The meat option is useless, it was a tiny amount of super dry and over smoked meat threads. The peach cobbler was pretty salty, which was a huge bummer considering how delicious it looked.
We ordered dinner for delivery and it was absolutely amazing. Sometimes delivered food isn’t hot or fresh but our meal was incredible. We got blackened catfish blackened chicken mashed potatoes with meat collards with meat, candy yams and hush puppies. Everything was delicious. The portions were quite large and you could tell that a Lots of thought and time went into each dish. We have supported Miss Delta for years and will continue to do so!
