This is a neat little place that I found with my mother, several years ago now. The bartenders have always been cool and we like the crowd there. This particular visit was different in that there was reports of a gunman a few blocks down the street. My husband and I were in the area specifically on our way to Rose and Thisle. The police had the intersection blocked at the corner blocked off but allowed us through. The door was locked due to the threat but the bartender welcomed...
Positive: BIG covered outdoor area and the best scotched egg I've had in a long time. The look of the other traditional fare makes me want to to ha back and work my way through the menu. Bar area feels kind of claustrophobic, with dark paneling and low ceilings but it is an architectural thing so it's not really a problem, just noting it for tall folks.
The Rose & Thistle's back patio is where it's at: so much booth seating (dog friendly), beautiful wood and mural vibes, and open-air seating for the cigarette smokers. I've only had a small taste of their food but the Mac & cheese was yummy. Drinks were reasonably priced and the selection was large enough to satisfy my friends.
