“The only powdered chocolate cream donuts anywhere in town (and I've checked), just the way Winchell's used to make them: absolute perfection! The other donuts are incredible, too, but the powdered with the poof of chocolate icing is my go-to 4 LIFE! When my husband and I journey 25+ miles to a Sesame Donuts and our box of donuts is in our car, I may spontaneously serenade my donuts. “My friend told me to skip Voodoo on the last day of my trip to Portland and head to Blue Star. I was a little weary but I've been burnt out on Voodoo for awhile. Blue Star is by far my new favorite. The young lady at the counter was more than helpful and very courteous. The kind of customer service I'm accustomed to being from the South. The store was immaculate and I liked the simple presentation. I didn't feel overwhelmed by the selection but immediately went to my tried and true: the apple fritter. This was no normal fritter. This thing was baked by some divine power. My God the glorious sweetness only enhanced by apples that I swear were guarded by a serpent in the garden of Eden! If you've never been, I urge you to run to the nearest location. If you're a repeat customer and haven't tackled the apple fritter then do yourself a favor and make it the next one on your list. My next trip to Portland will definitely prioritize another visit.“

“Early on a drizzly morning, I was greeted kindly with superb service. The shop has a cute old school donut shop vibe, complete with helpful staff.
Now on to the donuts! The chew of the raised donuts is nearly perfect. The dough is light, not cloyingly sweet and with the slight chew you're looking for in a good raised donut. I highly recommend their filled donuts. Also, the chocolate glaze was decadent again with that alright balace of sweet. Now on to my favorite, the sesame donut is a must. A plain cake donut with a light glaze dipped in toasted sesame seeds! This mildly sweet donut is perfection. I'll be thinking about it until I get it next!

“I pass by here all the time but decided to try it today. I got coffee with boba and a donut and it was $10. Their donut flavors are super interesting, I got Reese's cheesecake and it was great. I like that the donut wasn't iced AND frosted so it wasn't too sweet, the perfect amount of chewy.

I see some reviews about the service but the guy at the counter was polite and prompt, no complaints at all. They also have Korean style corn dogs I want to try next time, I'll definitely be back!“

My mom and I have gone multiple times (sometimes in the same week! ) and had a chance to talk to the owners and a couple of the baristas, all of which were very friendly and love to offer suggestions of flavor combos (that is, if you can't pick from the fun flavors they come up with every month). I also love that they offer a dark and light roast coffee and you can still actually taste the coffee, not just the sweetness from the syrup in the fancy drinks. They have a good balance.“
