Abundance of historical plaques to understand the battle but its a long walk, clean and well kept park and an overall good place to learn about the battle of Gettysburg
Go on the driving tour and see all the monuments
Loved it. Went every year. It appears to be out of business ??? It was so popular.

What a stupid way to die.
Worst. High. Tide. Ever.
Fantastic. Fabulous. I took the walk that the Confederates took to the fence that leads to the Emmitsburg Road. It was a dream come true. And there at the fence I met a Texan who was also visiting the place, a descendant of a Confederate soldier. I took several photos. It was really exciting. I need to go back there next year.
Can't fathom why Lee ordered this most foolish attack. Longstreet should have resisted. Or whacked the senile leader. Their poor intelligence gathering and over-confidence in their own ability lost us 6000 Americans in 30 minutes! Each time I drive up here and walk the field towards Seminary Hill (where the Union Army waited), I feel the helplessness of the attacking soldiers who so courageously marched to their death. Why didn't they call for a retreat after the first 10 minutes? Who orders their boys to march uphill on an open field facing artillery and 6000 armed men? I would NEVER entrust my son's life to an army general. This was one of the most senseless attacks in recorded military history. Worldwide. We should use the learning from Lee's poor tactics and Longstreet's failure to correct his boss as examples for future officers but also encourage enlisted men to resist pointless ventures. It would ofc be ideal that we have no wars at all..

A place to visit and remember what happened here.

If you are ever in Gettysburg PA, and love buffets as much as I do, YOU gotta stop at General Picketts Buffet? All home country cooking with the BEST customer service you will ever receive, which is what I strive for when going anywhere!I couldn't believe how every single employee was so friendly and helpful and genuinely kind!We will definitely be coming back here every time we pass through Gettysburg, which isn't as often as I'd like, now that I found this little home away from home!
Kid-friendliness: The employees were so kind and loving to all the children
For a buffet, food was good quality. better than old country buffet in quality but fewer items. Service was quick and businesslike.Gettysburg memorabilia was interesting. They had a lot of pictures of the casts of Gettysburg movies.I would go again if other members if my party wanted to but would probably not choose it on my own.
My husband and I were in Gettysburg for an over night trip and we decided to eat here. It was the best decision we have made! The atmosphere, employees, other patrons and service were 100% spot on. The food was hot, delicious and belly busting fulfilling. We would definitely recommend and we now have a new spot for dinner!
