My husband and I have been vacationing here in the Poconos for about 10 years. We are from Maryland. We discovered Cakes and Scones several years ago and ever since, we make it a point to go to our favorite bakery, Cakes & Scones! Always have had the best scones, cakes (esp the chocolate lava cake!!), coffee, quiches, and pies!!!We bought a blueberry crumb pie this year and it was loaded with blueberries and not too sweet, but sweet enough! We happened upon this charming, vintage, European-inspired bakery/café on a summer trip in the Poconos. What a delightful find! The coffee was fantastic; scones had a tender crumb; and the Portuguese custard tarts were the closest we have found in the U.S. to the delectable pasteles de nata we enjoyed in Lisbon. A friend brought a chocolate dessert with a layer of cherry. It was absolutely delicious. The bakery is 2 hours away from me, but I will absolutely be visiting in the future based on this gifted experience! Phenomenal!!
