“My family and I absolutely enjoyed this place as first timers and I love this place as a solo trip to the bar for a quick appetizer and margarita. My favorite waiter is Carlos. He was so funny, nice, accomidating and understanding with my llittles. He will make u come back just to see him lol. The food was fresh and good. Becoming a local favorite. We love the wings and beer too!“
“The food is always hot! The Service is always quick and efficient! Everyone is always friendly.. and helpful. from the outside looking in , they work hard to reduce waste of product at the end of nights on the protiens when I typically stop by. Again, very accommodating staff! Great hot food , and the staff keeps it clean too!“
“Wow - can't believe I missed reviewing this Mad Mex until now. I have eaten at several Mad Mex locations - all good - and each with its own ambience. The Monroeville location feels like the "fun uncle" of the bunch. This was especially true when hubby and I ate at the bar on a November evening. It was like we had a free floor show. They were super busy and it was all hands on deck, but we still didn't wait very long for our meals. All the locations feature Tex-Mex décor that feels both rustic and fun. Mad Mex, part of the Big Burrito Group of restaurants, doesn't feel like a chain. That said, the food has the consistent quality you expect from a chain. One benefit of the corporate oversight for me is that staff is, for the most part, well educated re: allergens. (Plus their website is helpful.) They regularly substitute corn tortillas for the flour ones for me, with no decline in quality of the food. Mad Mex has a very creative and diverse menu - complete with the standards you can rely on and the seasonal surprises. This includes the margaritas, which highlight the flavors of the ingredients instead of drowning them in sugar. Sometimes, when I mention Mad Mex to someone they reply "I don't like Mexican food." To that I reply, it's not Mexican, it's Mad Mex. I enjoy both, but appreciate the difference.“
“Jonnet Plaza is a plaza in Monroeville that is anchored by the Jonnet Building. Then you have the strip mall portion as well. There has been a change over of stores and restaurants over time here. Once housing a Office Depot and Lone Star Steakhouse they have been replaced by a fitness center and Mexican restaurant. To note, behind a majority of this strip of stores is a bowling alley as well. However, even with the changeover of stores and restaurants this plaza has seemed to survive over time. The Jonnet Building houses offices, doctors, and a few other things. There is an Enterprise Car Rental spot as well. This sits at a very busy intersection in Monroeville which feeds the plaza with customers on a steady basis. Can't really categorize this as a mall, but it does fill a shopping need as well as a service need.“
“Last night's visit to Taco Bell was a delightful surprise! Despite a hiccup with the app where my order was initially placed incorrectly, the staff handled the situation with exceptional cheerfulness and efficiency. Going through the drive-through a second time could have been a hassle, but Linda, Amber, and Jessica turned it into a fun experience. They were joking and playful, making it clear they not only excel at their jobs but also genuinely enjoy engaging with customers. It’s service like this that truly enhances the dining experience, even from the car! Hats off to these wonderful team members for their outstanding work and for making our evening a little brighter.“
“Shoutout to the manager Kat I think her name was I came on Sunday night(3/17/2024) at 9 to get my bowl and she’s awesome and so is the crew for putting up with Karen’s all day; they deserve a raise having to deal with horrible customers all day !!!!“
“I come from a Mexican family in California, so when I moved to Pittsburgh, I was deeply disappointed at the lack of good, authentic Mexican food. When I found this place, I rejoiced! The food is amazing: made with the authentic basics in mind, yet refined with originality. It really feels like home in all the best ways.“
“This place was fabulous! This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. The menu was very unique but includes a lot of classics. It really has a classy feel to it. Also, the staff were so friendly. I didn't get to have a drink but all the margs looked amazing! Both meals we had were superb my ribeye was very flavorful I loved all the sauces.. not too spicy. I will definitely be back frequently!“
“I love it, it is a very familiar place, the food is delicious and the service is very good, friendly and respectful. One of the best places you will find on the waterfront. I recommend itKid-friendliness: The atmosphere is very familiar and comfortable.“
“Our food was really good. We had the chimichanga lunch special. The waiter was happy and attentive. My only complaint is that the music was much too loud. Background music is a nice touch in a restaurant, but theirs was overwhelming. Please turn it down until there are more people in the building. Thanks!Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp but no automatic doors.“
