“My girlfriend and I wondered in to Nanty Glo off the Ghost Town Bike Trail on Saturday April 4 during the COVID-19 lockdown. Almost all businesses were closed and we decided to bike thru town only to find Al's OPEN for takeout. We got to enjoy some delicious pizza slices, a cold drink and a piece of Al's delicious homemade pie. If you're biking in, make Al's a must-stop. You'll be supporting a great local business and enjoying some delicious food too!! RECOMMENDED!!!”

“This place is on point and the hoagies are excellent ???. I continue to go to this place specifically for the hoagies but, but......the menu is gigantic! Absolutely a crazy amount of choices, and there is no way you almost can't find at least something that you like even as a picky eater. I love this place. ?

Parking: There is a lot, of spots to park. You will not at all have trouble finding parking.

Wheelchair accessibility: It's a super open area with no stairs at all!”

I had chicken noodle soup with chicken tenders . This place is now on our list of incredible eating establishments. We shall return.”

“Truly the best chicken in Johnstown. Usually make it a point to eat here when we are in town because it's so good. The extra large seating in the back was perfect for our group. The waitress was very good considering it was a packed house. The value for what you get cannot be beat. 8 people/ $88 + taxes was a steal for the amount of food we got. If anyone wants some good home cooked food and great value- this is the place.”

“Update on review: the owner did reach out to work on this issue. It was not explained by the waiter that the surcharge is removed when paying with cash nor did he attempt to return it. Anyhow their food is really good, so I would recommend you try them. Will not recommend anymore. Owner was nice, food very good but... My guys took me out to supper last night for mother's day. 🌹 When the bill came, Kev said "look at this". It was a credit card surcharge put on our bill. We got a hold of the waiter & said we're paying cash, why was this added even before you knew what we were doing? He said we charge everyone this no matter how they pay, to cover the cost of the fees they pay for having a credit card company. We said that's not right. He got a little cocky & said all restaurants are doing it, welcome to PA. No, all restaurants aren't doing it. Needless to say, this left a bad taste in our mouths. 🤨. which is sad cause the food is good Now, we understand if we'd used a card, that meant that we agreed to a surcharge. But not with cash. Why should cash costumers be penalized to pay a surcharge when they don't use this option?! Let's say I order a TV service & you have to pay the surcharge. You're not using my TV, so why should you pay for the service?!!! Right?! 😡 Say they get $2 from so many cash costumers a night , that adds up to a nice chunk of change, I mean bills. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS PEOPLE!!!!!🤨”

“My wife Melissa and I visited on May 21, 2025 for dinner. The burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned, very delicious! Melissa enjoyed her pizza burger as well. The server was attentive and responsive, anticipating refills and other needs consistently. An awesome experience, and we will definitely return in the future!”

“My wife and I have started a tradition of going to places to eat we have never been to before once a month and this month it was Kosta’s. Let me start off with the good. Food was pretty good(not blow your socks off but definitely good), waitress was friendly and fast, and the inside of the restaurant is not cramped with plenty of seating. Now for the bad. Portion sizes are not all that great, the grease in the fryer definitely needed changed, and the seats still had bits of food on it from the previous people when we were sat. All in all, mixed reviews here but still a place I would give a second chance.”

“After driving down very quiet but beautiful country roads, this travern is nestled out of the way. We stopped for drinks and food, and were pleased w the experience for such an inconspicuous location. It took a while for the food, but my bacon cheeseburger was made exaxtly as I requested and tasted heavenly. Pool table, pinball for a quarter, large seating area in the back. Clean bathrooms. Very nice”
