“My family used to call this bakery “The Crabby Woman Bakery” back in the 1980s. That’s because at least one the regular women who worked behind the counter was unusually crabby. I used to ask my parents to pick up a birthday cake that I had ordered ( or for whatever occasion) and I would cook the dinner for my extended family. My dad would arrive with the cake, but he always seemed a little unhappy. One day, I asked him why. He told me “whenever you send me to that bakery, I always tell the woman behind the counter that I am picking up a cake that my daughter ordered. I give the woman your last name…..she becomes irritated and asks “I need to know the size of the cake and the cake and icing flavors”. When he admitted that the only thing he knew was the last name, the woman would become very annoyed. This should be a short pit stop always turned into a very long process. The bakery woman would always figure out which cake was mine but it took a lot of time and many questions. Eventually, my dad changed the bakery name to “The Crabby Woman Bakery” and that’s what my family ( and friends) called it for the Emanuel years. The baked goods are all AWESOME. Especially the sour cream cookies and strawberr6 shortcake!”

“TY for accommodating our party of 18 on a Saturday… Your fried calamari was so yummy, the flight of soup was a brilliant idea for someone who’s undecisive to be able to sample 3 different cups, my crab cake was so amazing - I’m drooling just thinking about the jumbo lumps of crab chunks!!! By the way hubby & I noticed the American Psycho decors right away as we’re huge fans of the book & movie. Last but def not least, the service was great even though there were 18 of us with some loud kiddos.”

“We had a wonderful experience working with Tess and OsoSweet Bakery! My friend and I ran the Tough Mudder held a few miles away, and thought it would be fun to celebrate our success with a sweet treat. We ordered 6 custom cupcakes (and two scones, because who doesn't love a scone?!) and got a prompt and lovely response from Tess - she even made two different frosting flavors for us since we couldn't choose On the day we were due to pick up our order, we were running late and Tess assured us we could come after closing to grab our sweets. Come to find that in addition to the TM decoration we'd asked for, she also decorated some of our cupcakes with the TM logo to differentiate between the frosting flavors. And the scones are huge! Everything was delicious and the perfect way to end our race. Plus the shop is ADORABLE! We were sad we didn't have more time to visit and hang out there! Thank you again, Tess!”

“Great experience. Service was friendly and fast. Informal dining room. About 10 tables. Their garlic bread was excellent. Made me like garlic bread again. Meatballs were very good. I had the chicken with crab topping. It was excellent with lots of lump crabmeat and a nice sauce. For years now My wife has been looking for eggplant parm like her mother made it. Most places use food service pre-breaded very thin eggplant slices. They end up just tasting like fried bread with a vague eggplant flavor. These were made fresh, sliced properly and were excellent. Finished with lemon ricotta pound cake. Served warm. Very good.”

“A great place. Been open many years. Recently on TV for their Anniversary. Sometimes crowded but they are quick and move fast. You can get breakfast sandwiches all day which is a plus. Coffee very good, another plus. Only takes cash, no big deal to me. Grew up in South Philly and local neighborhood places the same. Got scrapple, egg & cheese, bacon, egg & cheese, peppers , egg & cheese. All outstanding. Owner Bruce and his wife working up front, working, greeting and monitoring everything.”

“I've been wanting to try Tanglewood for months. We finally had time to go today and we loved it! The owner was kind and patient while we pursued the menu and asked questions. My partner and I finally decided on sharing a Combo (¼ pulled pork & ¼ brisket, 1 small side-we chose coleslaw, and cornbread), an appetizer of their Asian Sticky Ribs, and a side of their homemade chips.The stars of the meal were definitely the Asian Sticky Ribs. Their cruchy edges and tender meat glazed with that Hosin BBQ sauce will definitely bring us back definitely. 100% get these.Coming in a close 2nd was the brisket. It was so moist and tender. The meat alone was amazing, and we dipped it into the Blue Q (Blueberry Bourbon BBQ sauce), and it went a level beyond.3rd would be the pulled pork. Sometimes, the texture of pulled pork feels like the pork is disintegrating - that was NOT the case here. We were treated to bunches of well smoked pork that was complimented by their Gold n Gritty mustard sauce.The next would be the remulade and other toppings on top of the corn. The flavor there was sooo good. I know we're out of corn season, but I hope fresh corn is used in season because that sauce deserves a nice crisp corn to eat with it. We ate the rest of the sauce with the chips... speaking of...The chips were AMAZING! The perfect crunch, the seasoning was spot on and addictive!The *very* few misses:This may be just a personal preference: the cornbread was soooo good; sweet, with a cake like crumb, but I really needed it to be warmed or at least room temperature. I took it home and heated it up in a pan with some butter, and it was perfection.The slaw and pickles both had good flavor. However, the texture was a Miss. The cabbage in the slaw and the cucumber from the pickle were both soft and had no crunch left them. As these were all sides, I didn't feel like they should affect the 5 stars this place clearly deserves.We can't wait to come back and try the Chipotle Mac & Cheese hot dog and the loaded potato salad!The value was excellent too; great food for an appropriate price.”

“Super cute and chic coffee shop! The coffee is great quality and they have many options. They also serve pastries, food items and different types of art. The owners were onsite, super hospitable, and attentive. The decor made you feel at home and they proudly display artwork from various artists on the walls. It’s really nice inside. I connected to the WiFi and got some work done as I enjoyed my latte and sandwich. The space is small but there isn’t a shortage of seating and there is still enough personal space to feel comfortable. I will definitely return.”
