“Friendly staff. Good sized portions. Not sure if they are, but the eggs taste very fresh (hey - it’s Oley. Farms everywhere- if a place serves eggs around here they should be local and fresh.). Cash only establishment but there is an ATM on site. One thing - I like hot tea with honey and sometimes the honey packets aren’t that good. Dark and gloppy(it’s probably fine - just unappetizing looking as it’s dropping into my tea). I know you probably have to buy a hundred at a time and don’t give out that much so (just a suggestion), it might be better to just not offer it. I consider it a “bonus condiment” lol. If server says “sorry we don’t have honey”and I end up using sugar - it’s not a big deal…and I would have just stopped writing after my compliment lol. I do love your place. It’s cozy.“

“From the moment you step in until you leave you are valued. Frank met us when we arrived insured our meals were up to his and his wife's standards. I have eaten meals at some of the finest dining restaurants around the country. What makes this different? One it is caring from service to ownership. Second, they are culinary chef's and its shows in the taste as well the presentation. I ate vegetables that I usually leave on the side, because it was hard to leave food on the plate. We usually have leftovers, but honestly the portions we appropriate for the price. This is not kid's place. This is a great place for adults to enjoy a meal that is the Best in Berks County and probably beyond. I have been to 48 states, and we usually go where the recommendations are. If you live anywhere near this place and you want a meal that you won't regret, please pick up the phone and call. You will never be disappointed. The best duck I have ever had. Really, you will not pick a wrong dish. Say hi to Frank, he really enjoys knowing that you came.“

“Stumbled across this gem after a trip to Renningers market. We got the half wrap/soup combo with the chicken Caesar wrap and chicken corn chowder. The Chicken corn chowder is to DIE for! They offer homemade baked goods and healthier options which is always a plus for me. Prices can’t be beat. Our new breakfast/lunch go-to for sure.“

“Y'all, we went to Sunrise Mount Penn Deli (on Carsonia, where Jake's used to be) for lunch today, and I have got to say, we had the best chicken cheese steak and fries ever, their smoothies are made with the freshest fruit and veg and taste like a dream (we tried banana, mango, pineapple), and their ice cream (especially the coffee) is to die for. Everyone who works there is so friendly and happy, singing along with Sylas and getting to know us all. Hugs and smiles and just happiness all around in that place. We can't wait to go back!“

From the moment I walked in, the warm and colorful decor transported me straight to the heart of Guatemala. The staff was incredibly friendly, greeting us with genuine smiles and offering helpful suggestions for first-time visitors. The menu was rich with traditional dishes, each one promising bold, authentic flavors.

We started with the antojitos, and the pupusas were perfectly crisp on the outside and filled with warm, cheesy goodness. The chuchitos, small corn tamales with a savory tomato sauce, were delightful and full of flavor. For the main course, I ordered the Pepián, a thick, aromatic stew with tender chicken and a rich blend of roasted spices—it was beyond amazing. My partner had the Jocon, a traditional green sauce chicken dish, and said it was one of the most flavorful meals they’ve ever had.

Every bite tasted like a home-cooked Guatemalan meal made with love. The portions were generous, and the prices were more than fair for the quality. The homemade tortillas were fresh and the perfect accompaniment to every dish. The beverages were just as memorable—the rosa de jamaica was refreshing and naturally sweet, while the atol de elote offered a comforting, creamy finish.

The ambiance was relaxed yet festive, with traditional Guatemalan music playing softly in the background. Service was prompt, attentive, and knowledgeable. We felt truly welcomed, like we were part of the family. Even the presentation of the dishes was beautiful—colorful, rustic, and inviting. Dessert was a standout as well, especially the rellenitos de plátano filled with sweetened black beans and dusted with sugar.

This restaurant is a hidden gem that deserves all the recognition it can get. I’ve already recommended it to several friends and can’t wait to return. From the start, we knew we wanted our wedding dinner to be from them - it’s one of our favorite spots and very special in our hearts, and they absolutely delivered!! The BBQ pulled chicken and pork were a huge hit with our guests, and the mac & cheese (our personal favorite dish) was as incredible as ever. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly served. Our favorite bartender, Jen, worked that night, and she, along with the entire bar team, were fantastic. The entire staff working were friendly, professional, and kept everything running smoothly all evening. It truly made the night feel extra special having familiar faces there celebrating with us. “We cannot speak highly enough about Stokesay, their entire team, and, most importantly, Hannah Kufro, our Wedding Coordinator that we worked with! My wife and I signed our venue contract one-year to the date ahead of our big day, with a different coordinator, one who ultimately ended up transitioning to a different organization just a week before our tasting was scheduled. For a couple planning a wedding, especially so close to their big day, this would normally have been an incredibly stressful change to hear about, however, we were expeditiously contacted by Hannah and met her days later at our tasting – immediately after meeting her we knew we were in great hands, and we both agree that our initial impression was spot on. Hannah’s attention to detail, flexibility, and knowledge have continued to impress ourselves, our parents, and our guests who experienced a phenomenal wedding just this past weekend. She not only hit the ground running with our event, but confirmed several details and was able to work with us to ensure our wedding day was as perfect as possible.
